The problem is when it rains and then instantly freezes, barely thaws during the day then refreezes every night since. Snow is preferable to the combination of rain and freezing temperatures. We're good at removing snow (see the time we were the only game in Scotland on.) Ice on the top can be removed with salt but the bed of the turf freezing is the game killer.
