HibeeJibee
http://burntislandshipyard.co.uk/other-news/shipyard-name-change-approved/New era for Shippy as Club drop amateur name. Following approval from the Scottish FA Board at their meeting last month, the Club is delighted to announce an alteration to the Club’s name. It has been agreed to drop the word Amateur from the name and the Club will now be known as Burntisland Shipyard Football Club. It was felt that with the Club playing semi professional football within the pyramid structure, the amateur reference may have led to people having a misconception as to what League set up the Club was actually playing in. The Amateur version of the Club came about in 1923 but this was four years after the Club was first founded by the Burntisland Shipbuilding Company workers in April 1919. With this in mind it was decided that the new Club badge would incorporate the year within its design. Obviously, it will take time for all Club team wear and items bearing the Club badge to be updated. All this means that the Club is a mere 17 months away from its centenary and the Club will now start planning to celebrate the historic occasion.
