I remember speaking to some Queens fans when I was down at Palmerston 2 seasons later, I didn’t realise that Gretna had been swamping the schools with tickets for the game until then. No particular interest in watching it again as it involves them waltzing to the title ahead of us, but it did have extremely entertaining post-match dressing room footage of Alexander being absolutely seething while Irons screamed abuse at their players after we won 2-1 at Raydale. IIRC Alexander didn't emerge to speak to the press for more than 90 minutes after the game, said 'The best team won' then stormed off again. Delicious. IIRC they hammered us 3-0 at Broadwood in the Scottish cup only a few weeks before before it which made it sweeter. Only made it to Raydale once, the penultimate weekend of the same season where a victory for them would've clinched the title. We managed to hold them to a 0-0 which at least prevented them clinching it against us. My first memory of them after the money pumping started was the season they won division 3 and were something like 6-0 up at half time away to Cowdenbeath. Did Brooks Mileson not have a short-lived (take that however way you wish) column in the Daily Record at one point? I seem to recall it was a "Day in the Life" thing focused primarily on the 80+ cigarettes and numberless bottles of Lucozade he went through on a daily basis. I also remember him being weirdly proud that it was all he ever consumed for sustenance.
