Read a bit of the Fife Courier there, the knicker wetting over this is sublime.

Of course, the safety of the workers on the plant and the plant itself is less important than noise and light pollution so I can sympathise with them to an extent.

In June, emergency flaring – the plant’s safety valve – lasted for nine days, which ExxonMobil said was due to pump failure.

At the time, Councillor Mary Lockhart said she had heard three reports of bed wetting among local children as a result of the unplanned flaring.

Well, if its down to pump failure and over pressurising of a system causing the Pressure safety valves to lift and send all the excess gas to the flare stack, then the plant is working as it should. What would they prefer? A massive Piper Alpha style explosion? Some folk eh!
