Forfar vs Ayr Utd

Recommended Posts

Our fate will be decided by how we do against the other 7 part time teams. Raith and Ayr will be out of sight at the end of the season.
Let's get Raith out of the way and then hope to pick up some points. Expect  another surprise lineup next week as Jim gives everyone a run out in these no chance games.

On the plus side today........

Nope, can't think of anything.

Well, comparing this 5-0 home defeat to the last, far more positives to take out of it.
Ayr actually had to work for 3 of their goals today. Last 3 were all well worked.
We competed relatively well in the first half although never really threatened to score.
Second half we were the better side until the 3rd then heads went down.
Ref shat it with Geggan, red card every day of the week. Also corner flags seem to get better protection than goalkeepers.

Positives from the match? Much better fight from Forfar today, Easton clearly our most creative player, Millar much improved on the Arbroath debacle. Scott up for it yet again. Cox looked better when he went out wide. We didn't ship a goal in the last 5 minutes.

Negatives, game gone due to our own mistakes (again) rather than good opposition play. Josh and Quigley are no better than we already have. Get them shipped back to parent clubs. McBride is a passenger and, finally, no goal threat whatsoever.

Missed malone again 2 weeks in a row !
Mcbride manages another 90 minutes ?
Paddy another waste of a wage .

What did we actually miss Malone for??

A guy that can’t pass tackle or run?Malone’s hopeless, Mcbride’s no much better though!

agree with Paddy comments, been extremely disappointed with him since he’s arrived!

I’m just struggling to see where the next goals gonna from? Can’t see us scoring in open play!

We need to up top, but we can’t do that with the players we have!
Jim’s going to need to try bring in a couple of boys!

Send Quigley back to his club he’s nowhere near good enough, put Kennedy in.

Not sure about Paddy today. We really fell to bits when he went off, might have been purely coincidence though.

Let's just see where we are atm.......yep it's official, Bollan has left the club in a frigging mess!!

All 'loanees' are a disaster, Kennedy-Macintosh-and Aiken should all start (matt has got a lot to learn but his pace is vital)

Badly missing a bit of dig with Malone in the middle, Cregg and McBride offer nothing to the team.

See-Josh also offer nothing up front, again we are missing Lister

If you are playing Coxy up front he has to play with someone else surely, whats the point in starting a home match with the wind advantage and play one up top??

Jim will have learned a lot from today's game and he will know he has to somehow change things around for next Saturdays game.

Good Luck

Forfar are soso bad. Bare them no ill-will and hope they eventually climb above a relegated Airdrie.

Ayr very poor and patchy for large spells of the game but more than enough quality in front line to see out such a poor side. Docherty form big concern and Gilly ineffective. Rab Crawford outstanding and an absolute hero in an Ayr jersey quite often without song and dance.

Bit of confidence and better distribution and we could be real contenders.

He's only missed the last two games. It all fell apart for us last season when he was brought in, he really isn't the answer.

Nobody is saying he is the answer, but what he does give us is 100% and a few meaty crunching tackles.....yes we may lose 5-0 next week but at least let us see some players busting a gut for the cause.

It's all you want to see as a supporter, players giving their all for the club each week for 90 minutes.

Agree re: Crawford. Out of all the players in this squad I can see him going furthest. Recent improvement has been incredible.

Think he's one of those that if he had been a new signing he would be an instant hero, but as he has been here from the inconsistent wee boy right through some folk have their minds made up already.

Word for word in agreement with this.

On the (non) red card incident. . . . What a Fkn cop out from the ref. He couldn't have got that call more wrong if he tried. The only decision that COULDN'T have been, was to give a yellow card. It's either nothing  or it's something, and if it's something, it simply had to be a red!

Malone knocks his pan in, can't argue with that, he's just not very good. It's creativity we're lacking in midfield.

And fight at the back.
Millar and Easton weren't at all bad today. Malone might allow them to be not all that bad further up the pitch closer to the front line.

Agree with pretty much all of that. Docherty looked like he’d put his boots on the wrong feet for spells today and Gilmour was a complete waste of a jersey as usual.
Have said for a while Crawford’s our most creative midfielder and I’d say one of the first names on the team sheet when fit.
W have to get away from the hoofball we played in the first half though.
