Fort William tomorrow

Audaces Fortuna Juvat

It is sad but it's becoming increasingly clear, however many of us outsiders want the Fort to do well, and keep an eye on their scores in the hope of an upturn, that no one really gives a shit, and the club is not viable at anything other than maybe North Caledonian League level- maybe lower than that in the amateurs.

The sides they put out are always spirited and try their very hardest, and they have produced the odd decent player down the years, but the interest locally just isn't there. Kind of damaging for the HL as a competition that it's not even November yet and the bottom side has conceded nearly 100 goals already. The "double-ton" in the goals against column looks more than likely this term.

To be honest, they desperately need a north Pyramid set-up so they can find their level somewhere within what is currently the North Juniors.  Reading the report concerning the new Chairman and wanting stability, it's very hard when getting humped week after week.  Maybe they should be making more noise about that.

They'd be worse off in the North Juniors, IMO. Less folk care about that than do Fort.

People watch a winning team. Most North Junior sides also have a higher level team to watch locally - Fort wouldn't have that.

I very much doubt that.  They can't get much lower now, but in what we know as the North Juniors currently they'd likely be able to field a competitve team below Superleague level. People don't want to watch humpings every week.

Respect to a bunch of guys and a hard-working committee plugging away to give the community some football. Fort William haven't always been whipping boys and hopefully they can get back among at least that lower group.

They've launched a crowdfunding page as a result of the extra publicity the video has brought to them.

As Fort William F.C and our story "A Long Way to Wining" continues to ripple through social media , we cannot thank you for the incredible and loving support we have received over the last 24 hours for our club and community from all over the world

We have been inundated with messages of support , donations , merchandise requests , collaborations and the response from people who are offering a way of helping is beyond measure.

We are always in vital need of funding to compete in the Highland League , we are not a money club and it means nothing to us as players and a community. The harsh reality is this is year 1 and we are building all over from scratch again.

If you would like to help with a donation it would go a long way to increasing our chances of remaining alive as a football club and more so competing consistently in the Highland League

Our top and most pressing concern at the moment is our priority is our pitch and we have set a target of £10000 to aim to provide the vital equipment and maintenance to avoid Claggan Park becoming flooded during the harsh Fort William climate leading to fixture pile-ups and training cancellations. A solid playing and training area is vital to the whole club from 1st team to youths and will provide the foundations for which we can build.

If you can help with any amount no matter how small , we are forever grateful.

Once again thank you for sharing our story and your continued support of Fort William Football Club

Was a good video.  I hope Fort William can improve and at least start being a bit more competitive, also the scenery surrounding their ground looks beautiful!

It's always been low clouds and I've seen f**k all scenery when I've been there. And for some unknown reason there's a huge distance between the crowd barrier and the pitch, so you don't see much of the game either. Will probably donate a few quid though, there's some decent pubs in Fort William for awaydays.

The view from Claggan Park up Glen Nevis towards Sgurr a'Mhaim and Stob Ban in glorious, especially in winter when they're capped with snow. There's no view of Ben Nevis from there, or really anywhere in Fort William proper as it's under a shoulder of the hill, the absurdly names Meall an-t Suidhe. The reason it's absurd is because the entire last word is pronounced "ee"; rendered in English it would be Melantee (all three syllables emphasised equally).

I wish I was there right now...

Not sure if it's considered part of Fort William, but the best view of Ben Nevis in the surrounding area is from the shores of Loch Linnhe at Corpach. There's a fairly impressive shipwreck on the shore as well.

Tough to get the Ben clear of cloud mind you, even when the surrounded hills are clear Nevis is often shrouded in cloud.
