Terrible that Clubs such as ourselves and Shotts who have worked hard to have grounds in such good condition, aren't even being considered for a final.

Both Duncansfield and Hannah Park have fantastic large playing surfaces, plentiful covered terracing and have the facilities needed to host a final. Both are well sized grounds, easily large enough to take a large sized support.

The SJFA don't take much consideration for the Scottish Cup Final by hosting it at Rugby Park each year and it's always well attended.

Let's give us other clubs a chance to host the provincial cups. I'm sure it would be a great advert for the game and still well attended wherever it's held!!

You obviously didn't read the thread about the choice of venue for the Ardagh cup final then?

I'm hearing definitely Cambuslang on the 22nd

Very unlikely as it would make too much sense.

If it WAS on the 22nd then Lok's league game at Beith and Bankies' vs Girvan on the 21st would both have to be cancelled.

Which would mean Beith vs Girvan could be played on the 21st instead.

Of course, Girvan vs Beith has been published in the schedule for 28th, but not a problem as that list will all be cancelled anyway once Old Grumpypants accedes to reality when the Junior Cup R2 draw takes its place, at some point after this Wednesday afternoon.

If so lets hope the Somervell pitch isn't too chewed up after Lang's game with Shettleston on the 21st!

  • 2 weeks later...

Well the Scottish can be a bugger for any arrangement at that time of year. At least it's in a suitable ground and on a day when hopefully most people are able to go. Of it is subject to postponement due to replays then so be it ... not like there's tickets to be printed and a weeks notice into the bargain

midweek somewhere would take care of any Scottish Cup issues.

Think the issue is that very few places are both big enough for the projected crowd and have lights.

Petershill's council owned, so booking may be an issue, Carluke's too remote. That pretty much leaves Glencairn or us...can't speak for the Glens, but by that date we'll be smack-bang in the middle of a run of five consecutive home games handed to us by the West Region and it'll be enough of an ask to get them on without faffing about preparing the pitch for a final :)

Cambuslang's a good compromise - it's reasonably central and easy enough to get to for both sets of fans by public transport .

They'll look daft if either has a replay or postponement in the Scottish.....

If we’re playing the games on paper, Pollok would certainly be expected to take care of Royal Albert.

Does the same apply to Clydebank against Kennoway Star Hearts?
