HibeeJibee
December is over. Hawick's woes have worsened as the gap has grown to 12pts. Edusport have pulled themself well clear of the bottom places, while Gala and CSS have slid down the table. Vale of Leithen now occupy the provisional relegation place on GD. Kelty remain well clear atop EOSL but Leith and LTHV with 5 games-in-hand remain very much in contention. Threave now lead SOSL, though St Cuthbert or Newton Stewart could yet strike from mid-table. 11 Edusport P19 W6 D3 L10 21pts, -5 12 Gala P17 W6 D3 L8 21pts, -6 13 Civil Ser P18 W5 D5 L8 20pts 14 Dalbeatt. HibeeJibee
Hawick thumped at Selkirk today and now have to claw-back over 1pt per game to survive. Vale thrashed Gala while Dalbeattie got 1pt at Edusport. Allowing for games-in-hand CSS, Gala and Edinburgh Uni may now look over their shoulders with increased concern. Hibee Jibee declares the Welfare safe that’s good enough for me In all seriousness a really solid performance from Whitehill away to the Strollers today. Squad taking shape and definitely a case of looking up the table now.
HibeeJibee
obviously plenty can happen but it would be quite an effort - from everyone below too - for you to drop 5 places and 12pts over the course of 12 games. Next-up a rescheduled home game v Hawick, also. Little has been happening in EOSL/SOSL where Kelty and Threave still lead. Interestingly however they met at Kelty in the South Challenge Cup yesterday, where to many's surprise Threave won.

HibeeJibee
January is over. It's been a good month for Vale of Leithen who have pulled themselves above Dalbeattie and opened-up a 5pt gap. Bad month for the Islecroft men who as things stand would be hoping on neither EOSL / SOSL champion being licensed, or HL champion not winning promotion to SPFL2. Hawick are still winless. Kelty and LTHV still have 100% records in EOSL. So unless Hawick sign an entire team of the standard of Vale of Leithen now (and they gel immediately), they will be bottom and by some distance. Ginaro
If Cowdenbeath/Edinburgh City/Clyde etc. get relegated with a Highland League club winning the play-off, will 15th place in the Lowland League also get relegated to allow the winners of the EoSFL/SoSFL play-off to take their place? I think clubs that have spent every penny they have trying to comply with the regs and obtain a licence ( as opposed to those who are admitted on the strength of paying a few quid in rent each week eg BSC/Edu/and to an extent Stirling U ) are entitled to a bit of certainty of outcome at the start of a season. Could LL not expand in such a case, one down is surely enough given the investments involved. I also struggle to understand how all the risk appears to fall on LL/EoS/SoS clubs while the HL clubs sit tight and get all the benefits ( if they want them) of the pyramid without any of the downsides. How are the SFA allowing this

How are the SFA allowing this Tbf, only one down out a league of 16 is an unusually low percentage but in time it’s a certainty that will increase - especially as the number of licensed clubs in the feeder leagues below increases. You do however raise an interesting point re the highland league. The sooner the north premier juniors, or a select bunch of ambitious north juniors and/or North Caledonian clubs form a breakaway Highland league second tier the better. How are the SFA allowing this It was decided when the Lowland League was formed that it would remain at 16 teams. It's unfortunate but it is what they all signed up to. With this only the second season that the Lowland Leauge has operated at 16 teams, it's a rule that will evolve over time. For now it's not a particularly pressing issue until it happens, so it's likely to stay on the books till they have to deal with the consequences of it. As for the Highland League they get away with it because the SFA took a hands off approach and left it to the clubs to organise. That's also how the EoSFL & SoSFL were allowed to be tacked on beneath the Lowland League. I wasn't a fan of the McLeish Report's 10 team Highland & Lowland Leagues, but it would of forced a more significant change than what we have seen. With the Angus SPFL clubs no longer threatened by the idea of participation in the Highland League I doubt it will change unless more North Juniors try for a SFA licence.
