I can see that happening which is good for Cowdenbeath but not the pyramid. I personally think the HL/LL play off should be 1 game at a neutral venue. I think 10th should be relegated automatically but until this changes it should also be a 1 game final at a neutral venue, the same should apply to all playoff finals. The L2 and Prem teams get far too big an advantage as whoever they’re up against have had to play at least two extra games before the final.

Personally speaking I’d like to see 2 relegated automatically from each tier, no second chances and the the playoffs being what the SPFL Premier have minus 11th placed team.

3rd v 4th (2 legs)
Winner plays 2nd in a 1 game final.

I know this gives 2nd the same advantage I mentioned Cowdenbeath / Prem 11th currently get but that’s to recognise their better season as by rights 2nd should just be promoted. I’d also have the HL and LL champions both promoted (once the LL has the big junior hitters)

Yes as a WW supporter I'm on record as saying much the same myself. Cowden going down would be sad for all involved but would strengthen the LL's hand and make it 2 years out of 4 there has been change. For the time being we're stuck with half a place shared between the HFL and SLFL.

Is this not in the wrong thread?

Possibly, you mean "Automatic relegation" thread?

Eh?

I was meaning anyone coming into the EOSFL wasn't going to be in either L2 or the LL next season so it's nothing to do with the L2 Trapdoor well not yet anyway.

Cove beat Rothes on Monday and Strathspey on Wednesday. They are now 14pts clear of Fraserburgh, and 9pts clear of Inverurie (who only have 3 games left) with 3 games-in-hand.

Oddly enough they could actually win HL tomorrow - if they win and Fraserburgh don't - or failing that by avoiding defeat on Wednesday when they travel to Fraserburgh.

They would then have 4 dead-rubbers to play during their extension period.

LL cannot be decided this weekend - although BSCG and 'Shire can both mathematically excluded - and looks most likely to go down to the last day.

In R1 of the Lowland League Cup, due on April 21st and therefore at least avoiding LL winner having a blank weekend, Spartans travel to Gretna while EK host East Stirlingshire:

Normally the champion is exempted or enter their U20s. Presumably they'll field something approaching their first-team at least for this opening round.

Berwick 1-3 Peterhead
Cowdenbeath 1-0 Clyde
Edinburgh City 1-4 Stenhousemuir

Cove Rangers 5-0 Clachnacuddin

Gretna 0-3 Spartans

Cowdenbeath return to winning form and so close the gap on Berwick and Edinburgh City to 7pts. However it's still a tall order to overcome that in 4 games, with Berwick also having 1 game-in-hand.

Cove Rangers are champions of HL - ironically the fixtures being altered to have Fraserburgh play midweek, and them losing at home to Formartine then and getting humped at Wick today, is enough to have Cove win HL by April 7th after all. Congratulations to them. Obviously the playoffs won't be returned to their original dates - so their last 5 games over the next 2.5 weeks will be going through the motions.

By far the tightest race remains LL where Spartans go back top by 1pt: they finish away to Dalbeattie on Wednesday then home to East Stirlingshire, meanwhile East Kilbride are away to Whitehill then away to Stirling Uni. It will come down to the last day, unless Spartans win in Kirkcudbrightshire and EK lose in Midlothian, which would finish it early.

Cove Champions,

Cowdenbeath now with 3 games to play and 7+ points to make up,  so playoff bound.

(Well Berwick still have 5 games to play to pick up 3 points to make sure, Edinburgh City likewise though from 3 games)

Spartans and East Kilbride in action tomorrow night and with final league games on Saturday.

Spartans a point ahead though have East Stirlingshire on Saturday.

Lowland vs Highland Champions playoff games pushed onto Saturday 28th April & Tuesday 1st May, Highland League Champs play at home first.

So who would you all like to be in the SPFL next year from them 4 Clubs?

East Kilbride

In ways they look the most equipped, already have a a team in Development League West and plans for a new Stadium on the way.

New Stadium ready to go in the coming months for Cove as well.

Would be bizarre if Spartans get promoted with their tenants the only other team to be promoted to the SPFL.

Cove for me. More North teams the better. WouldEdinburgh and Spartans sharing ground in same League work? Would Spartans agree to it?

I've lived up in Aberdeen for over a decade now and have prayed that Cowden get an away day in or around Aberdeen in the cup.  Would be just my luck if Cove go up at our expense meaning I finally get my 'home' tie for a single match!
