Ferry Boys vs Super Ayr

Recommended Posts

Although beat enjoyed the game and some poor defending by both sides made it exciting. For the second week running Stranraer lose a late first half goal and the game changes. The pairing of Bell and Lang didn't really work, they were so far apart you could have got 3 buses down the middle of our defence and you just cannot defend like that no matter who you play.I think McCall almost blew it by taking Moffat off,we got confidence and they seem to lose theirs,I think he was being too cocky but he got away with it.As for Ayr they remind me of Alloa early last season everything is falling right for them, everything seems to go through Moffat, having seen the two in successive games,I fancy Raith,if Moffat gets injured they could struggle whereas Raith have 4 or 5 class players in attack. Why Okoh started today was a mystery we had 10 men in the first half.

We were very sluggish first half but still the better team. First half of the second half was much better and we should've been out of sight. Some crazy defending giving Stranraer a sniff of a result. However, good resilience to grab the winner at the death.
Stranraer were really poor and scored 3 goals against us, very worrying.

Thought we were comfortable for the first 10 minutes but Stranraer were far superior after they scored up until McDaid scored a superb goal.

We started the second half much better and could've scored 3 or 4 goals.

Slack defending allowed them back in from the corner and after that I knew they'd equalise.

Great run from Boyle to score the winner and Moore should've wrapped things up a few minutes afterwards.

Stranraer seem to have a certain game plan which relies on sheer physicality. That will work sometimes but when you get a half decent referee instead of Charleston you won't get away with so much.

Lost count the amount of time the left back was pushing or holding onto McDaids shirt in the first half. Stranraer have got a bit of nastiness about them this season which can be a pain when you're playing against them but it means that there will always be tackles flying in left and right which is great to see.

Good away support again.

Stranraer made best use of the wind in the first half and got stuck right into us, strong and in our faces.  Made it really hard for us to play our normal game of this season and we had to match them.

Second half we could have run away with it, took our foot off the gas and Stranraer sensed that and did well to get back level.

Up steps Paddy - scenes!!!!!!!!!

It is a game we could have won 5 or 6 - 1 if we had kept our foot on the gas with the wind behind us in the second half.

Stranraer will bully a few teams this season.

We look as if we could score for fun at times this season.

I am just enjoying this season so much, soaking up every second.

Been a long time coming.

Paddy ❤️❤️❤️

Hart seemed really far off his goal line for the first goal considering Wallace hadn't actually gotten past Reid at that point and still had a wee bit to go before getting within shooting distance.

There is a clear push on Higgins for Stranraer's equaliser but it's a bit irrelevant as we won the match in the end.

Quality highlights as per usual

Free run our right back down injured.

That's obviosly not true.  He is up and running about as the pass is made to Paddy Boyle.  Check around 7:50 in the highlights.

Aye, he's coming to get the ball Reid is supposed to be knocking back to him instead of taking a turn.

Shame the highlights don't show Hammell lunging in on Moffat, Moffat selling him a dummy and Hammell injuring himself

Thought the wind played a big part, first half we never really settled, Reids error gifted a goal,  got back in to it with our second shot of target.

Second half we knocked the ball round Stranraer and looked like scoring a few up until Moffat went off. Bellford running about the 18 yard box after the equaliser was always going to come back to haunt him and true enough, he dived over another low effort for Paddys goal.

Stranraer looked a decent side, much like Forfar they looked stuffy in midfield, defensively they were poor, with the wind in the second half and quick movement we caused them a lot of problems, and Bellford waved at all four goals on the way past. They looked decent going forward.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were top four

Hart was 100% not to blame for that goal.

Didn't say he was just initially never noticed how far out he was when the goal went in. Reid pretty much left him in no mans land when he was about to pass back but for some reason let Wallace nick the ball and run past him.
