An absolute c**t of a guy but Airdrie fans love him because he saved a penalty against Celtic.

It looked like he was away to lamp Henderson for having the audacity to tap it into an open goal. Strange man.

Why do Thomson & Stewart keep laughing? I’m listening to everything they say but there doesn’t actually appear to be anything funny.

They’re laughing at the fact they managed to blag their way into pundit roles.

Just now, Scotty Tunbridge said:

Another chance to catch the **** highlights great.

Minutes silence included. That alone probably got as much time as some of the matches before hand.

Also, treated to extended highlights of a game that they showed live just 4 hrs ago. Great.

Stewart and Thompson don't seem arsed half the time. Especially on cup Sportscenes where after about the 3rd or 4th game the analysis gets repetitive and they talk in almost exclusively clichés.

Also why wasn't the Dundee v Motherwell game on last? The broadcast for it ended less than an hour before Sportscene started.  There was plenty of other games to show that people hadnt seen the goals from yet.

The tone for the whole programme was set in the absolutely pointless opening scene with Jonathan Sutherland in a casino. Why bother wasting time  and ,presumably,  money on that sort of self-indulgent nonsense?

Most viewers would rather see more highlights from the games with some decent analysis from the pundits. Instead , these two pundits seem to think that making snide jibes at each other (or last night to the presenter) about previous comments or their clothes is more important.  Which they could maybe get away with if they were actually funny , but they’re just not. A pity because I think is a pretty good pundit when he’s talking about the game or controversial incidents.

As for the highlights , I’ve known for years from games that I’ve been at myself , that they’re put together very lazily. Yesterday, for instance the very brief highlights from the Aberdeen game showed two or three goal attempts as well as the penalty incident and the goal. So why the goal attempts shown didn’t include the most glaring missed chance , namely  Anderson’s first half  effort that he slashed over the bar from about 8 yards , is beyond me.  Probably safe to assume that it’s not only games involving the Dons that are subject to this.

A special word also for the commentator in the Ayr game last night for setting the scene by telling us that the 216 miles between Dingwall and Ayr is the sort of distance that comes out of the hat in the Scottish Cup.  Even Archie McPherson’s usual drivel wasn’t quite as inane as that.

Aye, that was indeed sub-par patter. Was he the work experience guy? He sounded like he'd never commentated on a game in his life before, and I'm certain he called the County co-managers Steven Kettlewell and Stuart Ferguson at one point too.
