Cinema has arrived in the living room.

What do people watch Corrie, GOT or MOTD on these days?

I've got a 55 inch samsung 4k tv. Bigger the better if you ask me. Really want a 65 inch QLED but waiting on price to come down a bit.

Got a Panasonic full HD 48" coupled to a Pioneer 5.1 surround system in the livingroom. Does 3D and smart TV shit that I never use tbh. Was a cracking TV 3 years ago when I got it and the Pioneer sound system is immense.

Got 49" Phillips Ambilight 4k android TV with a 3.1 sound bar in the "mancave" *. Used mainly for my ps4, but that fact it's an Android telly is handy as kodi is installed directly on to the TV rather than needing any kind of stick or box.

* I hate the term mancave but, unfortunately,  it best describes its use.

Eta I thought the Ambilight on the Phillips would be gimmicky and I'd end up turning it off. But it's actually quite good when gaming or watching films, annoying for sports and normal TV viewing.

Never got into 3d which appears to be a bit of a passing fad.   I have a Samsung 4k 55" coupled to a soundbase and Sky Q.  Watching EPL games in 4K is amazing.  The TV also attempts to upscale ordinary HD with decent results and it came with a free 4K DVD player and a few sample 4k videos.  The Martian in 4K is something to behold!

3D passing? f**k off you.

I have a Panasonic 58DX802b that I bought a few months ago and is the dugs bollocks in 4K and is the full HDR colour pallet, nearly.

The 3D is fucking immense when it has been up-scaled to 4K on play back. 8)

u_10145318.jpg

Comes with it's own sound bar designed by some top sound tech mob and sounds fucking ace at high volume in DTS.

I have 4K movies and the picture is stunning to say the least and has that 3dish effect because of the image quality being 4K and 10 bit colour pallet.

BT sports Ultra 4K was fucking amazing picture quality and I am now thinking of buying a Dolby Atmosphere amplifier to experience the lot is has to offer.

3D's not so much a passing fad as a novelty that the entertainment industry digs up every twenty years or so, and which everyone gets bored with after a while.

Maybe it'll survive longer this time because it's being used for live sport and stuff, instead of every movie needing to insert '3D moments" where things are randomly waggled towards the viewer. You still see that shit in new films, and not just porn.

Waiting on my new TV being delivered today. Ordered this one from Argos to replace my 42" LG http://www.argos.co.uk/product/6994873 I like LG telly's as they have good reliability and I think they represent good value for money. Argos are doing a promo just now, offering 10% off TV's over £500, so got £55 off retail price plus had a £5 gift voucher to use that brought it down to £489. Not bad for a 55" 4k LED telly with HDR.

Decent :)

The only thing that would put me off is LGs WebOS

I've no idea, Ive never used it! The last time I looked there was no Plex app which is a deal breaker for me. That might have changed now of course and if you dont use Plex you wont care [emoji38]

I didnt like Plex when I tried it on my box but was under the impression you could just add your own apps. I take it that's not the case? I know you can add your IPTV playlist straight to a smart TV but that's about it.lol

You didnt like Plex? :o Plex is amazing.

You can add your own apps but they have to exist in the "app store" to begin with.  Plex didnt but, a quick google suggests, it does now.

I cant add an IPTV playlist straight to my TV. I had to install the SMARTIPTV app first

Ah right, so they use their own dedicated app store and not just Google play store? Maybe it was just the Plex codes I got off my mate but found they were more orientated towards kids and family movies. I've got that GCE Smart IPTV app on my phone but currently use IPTV extreme app as it lets you record.

The app store depends on the OS. If you have a TV with android on it you can use the Google play store - or more usually a cut back version of it. WebOS, therefore, has its own app store.

We use Plex for locally hosted content (ie torrent downloads) sitting on a dedicated Plex server and for that its fantastic.

You can also use it for IPTV but its not as good as some of the other IPTV apps

Looking at buying a new TV just curious as to the features everyone looks put for really.

Been looking at this

https://ao.com/product/65pus7805-philips-tv-grey-76093-108.aspx

Would this be good enough to run one of the next gen consoles with decent graphics?

Anything that would put you off this TV? had Philips TVs before with no problems but that doesn't mean quality has dropped over the years like alot of brands.
