Work colleagues

A colleague frequently (maybe twice a day) tops up her perfume. It’s my particularly awful but always catches the back of my throat. I try not to cough but I just don’t understand why she’s topping up her perfume anyway - she doesn’t smoke or that.

My office and a couple of others I’ve worked at since moving here have a no perfume/aftershave policy. At first I thought  this was typical over the top North American health and safety nonsense, but now I’ve come to appreciate not having to smell someone’s Brute etc

just out of nosiness - are you not allowed to reapply it during the day, or not allowed to wear it at all?

We had a meeting we were "encouraged" to attend today where some folk spoke well about not much. Highlight was the wee wumman nominally in charge of building infrastructure standing up an telling us there was very little money left in this year's budget for repairs, some teabays aren't working and that she was also aware that some toilets were out of action.

Fair enough until she followed it up with "Which is a shame, as we know some people are frustrated as they're desperate to get big jobs done..."

You could gauge the good guy/w**k ratio by the amount that started sniggering or going into coughing fits.

Not exactly the same - and not even a colleague either - but I was at Glasgow Airport waiting to go through security. The muppet in front of me in the queue had forgotten that he couldn't take his can of Lynx through. So he decided to spray the FULL FECKING CAN all over himself. I could literally taste it. What an utter balloon.

Were the burds at security throwing themselves at him as a result? if not the adverts are pure lies and should be reported!

North America? I thought you were from Canada.

Is Canada not North America?

Started a new job recently, guy sitting next to me would appear after lunchtime reeking of aftershave. He also was very happy and loud during the afternoon. Didn't take long to realise he smokes a wee joint or two for lunch.

Have pulled out of our work Xmas night. Rather than keep it simple and get everyone a meal and then onwards to a few pubs, they've spent a fortune booking a night away at the Glamping instead.
Far prefer the chance to bail home when things start to get out of hand so it's a big no from me.

That sounds utterly awful. Correct decision to pull out.

It might be ok with some mates in the summer, but in the winter with folk you might not like and, as you say, no chance to leave if/when it gets shit, it sound fucking terrible.

Even worse that they're spending so much money on it as you say. That's really poor, especially if it prices folk out. The logistics of getting there and back must be a nightmare as well.

All in all it sound absolutely w**k. Bet they'll just talk about work as well

A boss I had years ago would discuss work matters even over the cubicle wall while he was sitting on the cludgie. He wouldn't even pause for a breath during the splashes. I was young at the time and assumed this was normal workplace etiquette, safe to say I've not encountered similar behaviour in the decades since...

It's that time of the year, which I so look forward to, when the whole office shivers while our token middle aged woman, with her desk beside the radiator, opens the window as wide as possible to direct all the heat straight outside.

I also have encountered this type of nonsense behviour.
By any chance does she complain about the heating while wearing a fleece?
