Your old school & famous ex pupils

Recommended Posts

Just discovered a few things about the last shitehole school I went to; apparently they've only ever had one pupil who went on to do anything of note, and that was just some artist who was known in the local area in the mid-Nineties. Another thing is that, during the period after I left (when the place supposedly improved), it was rated 'Very Poor' by Ofsted  :lol:

A quite comprehensive list from Holyrood there Rugster! The only ones I can add are;

Raymond Meade, who is now the base player of Ocean Colour Scene.

Chris Burke, the wee ginger footballer.

And a niche one here Mark Sweeney of ICW wrestling(he was a good c**t so thought he deserved a mention)

Imagine me forgetting Raymond. He's only a good pal too! :oops

Donald Dewar, former First Minister
Niall Fergusson, occasional resident w****r on Question time
Jeremy Isaacs, founder of Channel 4

Special mention to the Glaswegian bird that appeared on The Apprentice a couple of years ago. She was useless but she's a wid.

My school was Broughton. Sorrow. Sorrow.

Didn't realise big Gus Robertson went there. Just looked up Sean McKirdy and feel a bit depressed that someone who would've started after I left is now a professional footballer. The dream is definitely fading.

Well fortunately I don't have that pain but given I left school before he was even born makes me feel very old.

I want to hear more about your sister in law.

She is a school teacher.  If you'd paid more attention to your teachers you wouldn't be crying in a portaloo every lunchtime after being bullied by your druggie workmate.

Remember reading somewhere years ago that Josephine Tey, who went on to be a bestselling crime author in the States, went to Inverness Royal Academy.

Scraping the bottom of the celeb barrel, the chef Michael Smith, who was once one of the winners of the Great British Menu and still pops up on TV here and there, was a couple of years ahead of me at Millburn. Mark MacCulloch, ex- Dunfermline, Livvy and ICT, was a couple of years below.
