Mr Tourette
I can think of loads but these are the first ones that come to mind ( original artists in brackets):- One - Mary J Blige (U2) Helter Skelter - Stereophonics (Beatles) Word Up - Gun (Cameo) Hard Rain - Laura Marling (Bob Dylan) Man who sold the world - Nirvana (David Bowie) Special mention to Puddle of Mudd’s version of Gimmie Shelter by the Rolling Stones, sometimes I prefer it to the original but others not

Here's the original by The Crickets recorded 5 years before the BF4 version.
Academically Deficient
Excellent version by the Crickets. Topper Headon's magnificent drumming on the Clash version makes it my favourite still. A shockingly underrated musician he was.

I expect Mojo magazine will have a smaller circulation next month as a result of the heart failures induced by it. Excellent work

Dan Steele
Whitesnake's version of Ain't no Love in the Heart of the City is better than Bobby 'Blue' Bland's original. And I love soul!

And I love soul! Absolutely. Whitesnake were a fucking great live band before Coverdale discovered hairspray, Tawny Kitaen, and MTV. Afterwards, not so much. I remember singing along to that at the Apollo in Glasgow at a gig where they were supported by Gary Moore, who had moved to more bluesy music before his PR got the message out - some confused looks he got..

Kilbowie's Finest
Kate Bush’s version of Rocketman by Elton John and Red Hot Chili Peppers version of Stevie Wonders Higher Ground are both IMO better than the originals
