The Celtic All Seasons thread

Recommended Posts

It’s a good opportunity for Tierney to move to a big club in a better league. Hopefully he has the ambition to try it especially given he’s going down to probably be their first choice.
Its a different world now. Turnbull, at only 19, is the best/worst example I have seen of a young Scottish player putting cash over ambition. He’s shown himself up to be a right greedy wee b*****d.

Tbf Turnbull is calling Celtic a great pathway for him. That shows ambition. Makes sense him moving to Celtic and then down south. He knows this league.

Who's to say he won't though? As @gannonball says he shares the same agent as Armstrong, there's every chance he's and his rep have decided to pivot their strategy given the £3m Celtic (and Norwich) were willing to pay limited his options in terms of choice. The upshot seems to have been that it's a better move for him long term to use Celtic as a platform and get first team football.

He's 19, by the time his current deal with Celtic expires he'll still only be 23 and it's likely he'll have far more experience under his belt.

At the moment he's made 32 appearances for Motherwell. With the Norwich offer he'd have been on very decent money (on a par with Celtic's offer at least) but would have been further away from the first team than he will be at Parkhead. Moving to Norwich would have been a very decent option but in moving to Celtic he's opted to go for the move that's likely to give him more first team football (and he's ensured his renumeration from Celtic reflects that).

I think the question here is it easy for motherwell to replace Turnbull because if Celtic lose Tierney most Celtic fans would say it's fecking impossible.
The fact that Turnbull only burst on the scene last season probably makes him easier to replace.
With Tierney it's great Celtic are in a position to say no to a heavy bid if true but every player has a price.
How do Celtic replace a player like Tierney, are both these players once in a generation players?
Celtic should not sell Tierney at any price for me he is priceless especially at this historic time.

Tierney should definitely head south, it's a brilliant opportunity for him.

Otherwise he risks stagnating like McStay and Brown etc who stayed too long.

A couple of seasons ago, Tierney would have been ahead of Andy Robertson in many folks' eyes. Now Robertson has played in back to back Champions League Finals and is rated by many as one of the top left backs in the world.

Tierney was just about the player you feared most playing Celtic  a couple of seasons back, would honestly say that's not been the case for some time.

Celtic have no choice, if Arsenal want Tierney, theyll get him. They could probably, happily, pay him over £80k a week.

Celtic getting £25m would be tremendous business for them, theyll obviously never get a like for like replacement but they will get a replacement, and that's a huge amount.

Tierney deserves a chance at a bigger club too, Arsenal gives him the chance to cement himself at a club just below the elite and Emery is all about allowing full backs space to attack, so he should improve in all aspects.

Is Tierney likely to go to Arsenal ??

It's being reported that negotiations with the player "wont be an issue" if the clubs agree a fee.

Robertson's success down there probably helps Celtic.
