Brendan's opportunities??

Can’t be Liverpool.

Can’t be Man Utd, Man City, Spurs, or Arsenal.

Chelsea a poss fit, but Abramovich usually aims for overseas coach profile. Ironically, his time at Chelsea as youth coach was as a result of Steve Clarke’s recommendation!! And he did graduate to be reserve team coach.

That’s the top six covered.

Of the rest, only Everton & Newcastle could be considered bigger than Leicester, and both have money worries, or stadium worries, or dodgy owners. All the other so-called bigger clubs are currently languishing in the lower leagues e.g. Leeds, Villa, Forest, Derby, Wednesday, Sunderland.

Leicester have a wealthy owner family/corporation. Big crowds. Good stadium and facilities. A history.

Europa spot regular is realistic. FA Cup success realistic. League cup success realistic.

That's it in a nutshell. Had the Celtic board backed him with maybe an extra £20 million or so then he would possibly have stayed and tried to build a team to be competitive in Europa league terms, however the reality is that Celtic just don't possess the level of funds required to compete with teams from the large, TV subsidised, leagues of Europe.

Over and above this, I'm sure Leicester have increased his salary substantially and it gives him a chance to showcase his talents in a bigger theatre once again.

That said, anything worse than top 6 or 7 will probably see him bite the dust and end up at a Sheff Wed or Brentford in the next 18 months or so.............

Fair post that, Wolfie.

Lawwell is the reason he's away.  I doubt if he'd been backed properly in the summer he'd opt for Leicester.

Thats my thinking tbh. Mcginn could have been bought with ease if Lawwell wasn't such a egotistical heel dragging c**t. It was clear Rodgers wanted him and Hibs werent exactly being unreasonable.

Not signing up a centre back till after the champions league qualifiers was our downfall  though imo and it kissed goodbye to any major investment for the season after.  We have been short sighted like this several times before. For all our supposed money people kindly ignore that we run at a significant trading surplus most seasons too.

Im not pretending most EPL jobs these wouldn't tempt a Celtic manager but Rodgers is leaving for same reason Lennon did. Feels he can’t take us further without upping the budget.

Will be cracking when Lennon gets in to the wrong dugout ala Ron Atkinson.

If anyone else did it, it would be seen as tongue in cheek and a bit of a laugh.

Guaranteed if Lennon does it that it ends in multiple bans and heads gone. And not just on P&B.

It all comes down to Rodgers thinking that he is a top 6 English Premier League Manager. He cant go back to Liverpool, he cant go to Man United as he was at Liverpool and would never get the City job so he will be looking at Tottenham, Chelsea or Arsenal, he has been overlooked recently for both positions at Chelsea and Arsenal. He could win 15 trebles at Celtic and they would still overlook him. If he can consolidate Leicester as a top 8 club maybe 2 years on the trot along with developing some younger players, being shrewd in the transfer market and playing an attractive brand of football that will get them taking notice.

Guess how many times Leicester have finished in the top 8 of the Premier League?

There's absolutely no chance Rodgers or any other manager us going to achieve that, Leicester owners and fans are delusional thanks to a flukey season.

This deal was done ages ago, Rodgers has been lined up to take over from Puel for weeks if not months and Lennon knew he was going back to Celtic hence the play down of the spat at Hibs.

The speed that this has all been completed would suggest that you're correct.

You ITK or just adding 2+2 and getting 4?
