CELTIC have been told to up their bid for Hibs ace John McGinn to £3million.

The Hoops had an initial bid of £1.5m for the midfielder rejected last week.

And Hibs have told their counterparts they’ll keep hold of the midfielder unless they double their initial offer, according to the Sunday Mail.

The Parkhead side pocketed a cool £7m after Stuart Armstrong sealed a move to Premier League side Southampton last month.

And boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to snap up Scotland international McGinn, who has just 12 months left on his Easter Road deal, to replace him.

Speaking ahead of Celtic’s 7-0 friendly win over Shamrock Rovers, Rodgers admitted he was still hopeful on sealing a deal for the 23-year-old.

He said: “I just wait to see what happens between the clubs. I’ve nothing more to say on that. Is it still a live matter? Yeah, I think it’s what happens in negotiations.

“That will be organised, hopefully, between the two clubs and hopefully we have another player.

“We want to get players in as soon as we can. If it’s not to be, you have to wait. You have to be patient.”

EVERTON have pulled out of the race to sign Kieran Tierney — after deciding the Celtic star isn’t worth £25million after all.

Toffees boss Marco Silva had indicated he was ready to meet the Hoops’ asking price — busting his £18m budget for a new left-back to succeed Leighton Baines.

But the Goodison side are now looking elsewhere because they feel £25m is too much for a Scottish Premiership player — albeit one with Champions League experience and international caps.

Their other main target is Spurs and England’s Danny Rose, who is likely to leave the Londoners.

Alan Mannus in the Shamrock goal is more used to getting draws and victories against Celtic, must have been hard to take for him.

Just a little reminder that some fans of your club racially abuse Shay Logan. Please tell your manager to help address this issue.

Whilst I wont rule out he's telling the truth I have only really been going to Celtic games regularly since the turn of this millennium but I have yet to have hear racism from Celtic fans inside a ground. I do find it strange that for all the cameras and mics etc at games (especially with more involving Celtic) that none have picked this up. I have no doubt there are racist fuckwits in any significant crowd but its a dangerous game especially with the mind set of our left leaning support to be shouting racist abuse, but generally racists aren't the brightest to be fair.

The main question for this though If Shay is serious about this it why is he coming out about it 2 months after the game? You would think if he was the victim of racial abuse he could say what section of the crowd it was coming from, rough time etc to check cameras, mics etc.

I really can't speak on behalf of Shay, and I've never suffered racial abuse so I can't really understand how individuals would react to it. All I can do is speculate.

Perhaps as a black man living in Britain, racial abuse from the stands has become so normalised that he feels that reporting the issue will do nothing. Perhaps he's reported similar things behind closed doors previously and nothing's been done. Again, all conjecture. I don't  think it's up to others to decide how and when individuals feel comfortable with reporting crime.

What I will say is that the treatment Shay Logan receives is as a direct response to reporting a racist incident, of which the perpetrator was found guilty. I think it's ignorant at best of Brendan Rogers to come out an universally back a set of fans based on an arbitrary poll of European fans who see six games a season. It's dangerous, and it really doesn't help anyone in Scottish football.

somebody shouting racist stuff or anything seeming racist around Celtic fans in the last 25 years or so is playing a dangerous game. i'm not saying celtic fans are angels (god there are many people with selective memory issues on recent history) - but the number of extreme left leaning social justice warrior hipster neds  means that  the p or n word shouter would likely get a physical punishment.  (seen it happen going as far back  as 99 cup final when somebody shouted something at GvB and at St Johnstone 2002ish, i think at Momo Sylla )

I'm not saying Shay Logan is lying, because unless you were there at that exact point in time or have evidence one way or the other - you don't know what happened. But, the way sounds is picked up on televised games these days... if something was loud enough from fans for shay to hear it, then the tv coverage would have picked it up as well.

It would be silly to suggest Celtic have an inherently racist support or even to suggest its more than one or two idiots letting the side down.

It is however very poor from Rodgers to respond to shays claim of racist abuse by saying he brings it on himself (I appreciate he means abuse in general, not racist abuse). As I said in the Aberdeen thread he’d have been best served simply saying nothing on the matter.

Considering that some of the Shamrock defenders seemed to melt when Celtic players took them on, this must be a big wakeup call to the gap in quality between the SPFL and the League of Ireland.  Only positive for Shamrock that it was only 7 this year, last year Celtic beat them 9-0
