East Cup of (Football) Nations 2017-18

Recommended Posts

Gala Fairydean Rovers 5-7 Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale (aet)

HT - 1-3 ... (1-0, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3)
FT - 5-5 ... (1-4, 2-4, 2-5, 3-5, 4-5, 5-5)
HT in ET - 5-6
FT in ET - 5-7

Took in this game but it's all a bit of a blur. Suffice to say Gala were the better team for the first 30mins and last 30mins, which they played with 10 men, and astonishingly came back from 3 down twice. Conceded right on HT in ET and LTHV eased-it-out. Incredible game to witness, congratulations both (well - defences aside, maybe!).

In last 2 games at Netherdale I've seen 23 goals .

Was at the Gretna v Vale game last night. The Vale struggling in the first half but the better team for a good bit of the second half when Chris Anderson came on and played up front. However, Gretna well worthy of the victory, looking fit and playing some excellent football. 3-0 Gretna.

Worth saying above was LL game and not EOSQC tie.

No specific dates for R2. Draw as follows:

Tweedmouth Rangers v Hawick Royal Albert
Tynecastle v Eyemouth United
Whitehill Welfare v Spartans
University of Stirling v Lothian Thistle HV
(Burntisland Shipyard / Selkirk) v East Kilbride
Peebles Rovers v Gretna 2008

Civil Service Strollers beat Edinburgh University
Vale of Leithen beat Preston Athletic

Some interesting matchups in remaining R2 draw. Whitehill v Spartans derby and 2 quality teams face-off in Stirling Uni v LTHV. At least one EOSL club will make QFs as Tynecastle host Eyemouth. EK and Gretna favourites in their ties. Tweedmouth v Hawick looks intriguing.

According to EOS website:

Peebles Rovers v Gretna 2008 is Saturday 14th October
(evidently subject to Peebles reaching AJC Final)

Tweedmouth Rangers v Hawick Royal Albert is Sunday 15th October

That leaves Burntisland v Selkirk (R1), Tynecastle v Eyemouth, Whitehill v Spartans, Stirling Uni v LTHV and Burntisland/Selkirk v EK as yet undated.

It ended Tweedmouth Rangers 3-6 Hawick Royal Albert in the "Battle of the Basements" at Old Shielfield earlier.

Hawick may remain pointless in LL, but they've now reached a cup Quarter-Final!

Unless it's in error... according to ref appointments on SFA website this tie will be played at Falkirk Stadium, not Gannochy, the latter being where Stirling have previously played EOSQC ties.

Lowland League website says Falkirk too. Been considering heading along after work, so would be good to know the venue for sure!

Confirmed by LTHV twitter it's Falkirk: 3G there means a much better chance of it being on, if nothing else, compared to grass at Gannochy. Winner go on to host Hawick in R3 next Saturday.
