Marlowe
from a story on the back page of the Irvine Herald, Chris Strain says Mikey Morris has put in a transfer request, ? due to travelling distance. If Campbell is not available does McGuinness now play as Centre back again. The young, tall NO. 4 is very good but not yet the finished article, McCloskey is good going forward but can be brushed aside too easily and Maitland and Coleman, although experienced, still cannot control their temper and are thus always close to 2nd yellows. Hardly looking good going forward. Is it still possible to recruit more experienced defenders?

jinky
Be a big loss to Kilwinning...Mikey has played for a host of quality sides and sure he was a player of the year not so long ago at EKFC. Havent seen the article that mentions Mikeys transfer request..travelling the excuse??..suppose only time will tell if that's accurate..don't think he will be short of suitors!! Morris was a highly competent defender and in a settled back line would have helped to gain consistency from his colleagues, sorry to lose him. Is it possible that over time we have been losing key defenders due to our beloved manager constantly advising them how to do the job as good as he used to do when he was a top defender? If McGuiness is slotted into Centre back where he does a fair imitation of a back line defender who is going to replace him in the middle of the field ... when he's not there the scoring forwards don't seem to get the ball passed in a way that allows them to attack the goals ... instead they punt long balls which invariably get returned by larger defenders. Central defender (s) required sooner rather than later ?

Central defender (s) required sooner rather than later ? Acurrate summary from someone who clearly understands the game and the role of players.Indeed, the short partnership of swift/morris and martin Campbell/morris enabled Kilwinning to remain in the super league. All three players are a great example to young players in how to conduct themselves which is clearly lacking in the current defence!Furthermore, the past two games have highlighted the absence of technical ability as the defence punts the balls straight up the park to be returned immediately. Looks dynamic at times but ultimately results in Kilwinning losing goals. Finally, all three defenders mentioned come from a sound footballing background from SPL or Championship teams which build play from the back to feed holding midfield players such as Liam. Its not rocket science! But unfortunately loyalty is an emotive tool which often results in the demise of managers!!!
funky monkey
Sorry to see Morris go. Central defence has been an issue for Buffs, we will score goals, but always lose goals. 4-2 wins against Cumnock and Clydebank tell the story. McGuiness is needed in midfield, that was evident last weekend against Pollok where we surrendered midfield too easily. Discipline remains a problem, with 3 or 4 of the team virtually guaranteed a booking every game. I think we remain short at CB, Campbell can step in but isnt going to play every week, the youngster White (?) certainly has real potential, but maybe too soon to be starting every week. Certainly is a dilemma for the management team. The overall squad has been greatly strengthened, but defence is still a cause for concern. Just need to spend as much time as we can in the opposition half.

pheasant plucker
I thought the lad Morris was a decent player. Fair old chance, as suggested above, that the embarrassing raving looney that masquerades as a manager might have been a factor in him choosing to depart
ADR
Don't see all the fuss about Morris transfer request. He looked decent last season when he came in but has been anything but decent since season started, he's given away possession leading to goals conceded and his performance at Beith in Ardagh was like a rabbit caught in the headlights, where he ended up sent off. When midfielders are playing centre half before you, you know you haven't been performing to any sort of level. Hopefully use any income from transfer to bring in a good replacement

Mikey and Chris have a good working relationship. Travelling(due to work commitments) was the main factor in Mikey's decision to submit a transfer request. stuarty1976
What the manager has done since his arrival to the club is nothing short of remarkable. And still he receives negative comments towards him and his staff......short memories!!!
Youri
Because issac spoke up n strain has his favourites Big Isaac got sold because he was a goal a game defender (at least). Did he go to a top team premier league team? Nope, playing in the ADL, everybody finds their level.

Just to enlighten us could you please list his achievements and to avoid putting a negative slant on it don't mention the fact the he was the cause of a committee to resign or a long list of players to leave the club due to other commitments. Also don't mention his hiding from the Referee at Lugar by lying on the ground behind the dugout , in front of myself and other regular Buffs stalwarts. Managers are not the heart of a club ... they are self-serving temporary transients, and so are their coaching staff. If they are successful they will move onwards and upwards, if they are unsuccessful they will hopefully also move on and eventually find their level.
