Odd they append BoD as "North Junior Super League winners", but not Threave.

Hawick, Threave, LTHV, Preston and St Cuthbert have to run PR1 bye gauntlet despite finishing above everyone else. Perplexing arrangement.

It is consistent with the way they've done the other junior clubs though.

They've presumably done it to highlight why no qualifier has come from North Juniors.

However no qualifier came from SOSL, either, due to Threave. (Nor from EOSL due to Kelty - but they're unmentioned, joining R1 as now LL).

Some away tie for Wigtown potentially if Banks O’Dee progress, from one end of the country to the other.

Seeing as they are lacking here's the first round results:

Hawick Royal Albert  0–5  Bonnyrigg Rose
Albert Park

Golspie Sutherland  1–4  Burntisland Shipyard
King George V Park

Auchinleck Talbot  3–1  Banks O' Dee
Beechwood Park

Coldstream  4–2  St Cuthbert Wanderers
Home Park

Preston Athletic  3–1  Glasgow University
Pennypit Park

Threave Rovers  0–3  Beith
Meadow Park

Tynecastle  0–2  Shortlees
Meggetland Sports Complex

Shortlees being the closest thing to a shock I reckon. Would be good if they could go on a similar run to Colville last year. Burntisland v Golspie would maybe have been a closer game a few years ago I reckon. Playing the EoS league seems to be improving them.

Quite what difference it makes is hard to define but Burntisland and Preston played 3 competitive games in the preceding week in the EOS Qualifying League... Saturday-midweek-Saturday... whereas the North Caledonian and Caledonian Amateur leagues probably haven't started. Nevertheless an excellent result for Burntisland.

From the results we've seen, I think the Amateur Cup winners are perfectly capable of holding their own against middle and lower senior and junior teams. Having seen Tynecastle struggle to a 3-3 draw with Peebles a week past Wednesday from 2-0 down then surrendering 3-2 lead, plus having been thumped at St Andrews, it looked eminently winnable for Shortlees... I see it was 0-0 HT. Also while it was a home tie to Tynecastle they have only played Peebles and Hearts XI on it before now IIRC so they're almost as fresh to it. Bonnyrigg may be a different proposition.

R2 draw looks like this:

Girvan v Burntisland Shipyard
Newton Stewart v Coldstream
Auchinleck Talbot v Wigtown & Bladnoch
Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic v Shortlees
Preston Athletic v Linlithgow Rose
Beith v LTHV

On paper Girvan, Coldstream, Auchinleck, Bonnyrigg, Linlithgow and Beith will be favourites to reach R1 but LTHV fear no-one and Burntisland might fancy a shock.

How much of the amateur cup winning squads have the ammie teams managed to bring with them into the Scottish the next year? I'd presume most would have a good number of players lifted by local junior sides. Especially if they're coming from Ayrshire.
