Junior football, what is the future?

No more Junior teams south of Tayport?

Dunno, but none outside the pyramid at all by the looks of it, and membership of the SJFA will soon be little more important than of regional associations like the Fife FA.

No more leagues run by the SJFA south of Tayport, but there are still about 50 SJFA members in the West of Scotland League. Who knows if the West Lothian juniors have kept their membership.

It would take rule changes at the upcoming SJFA AGM to make that possible so probably not.

Considering they changed the rule for West clubs, I can't see too much objection against a rule change for WL clubs.

Staying in the SJFA is entirely possible if they want it since they're rewriting the Constitution all over again.

There was the rule change for it last year, and there's going to be a rule change this year due to the apparent scrapping of the East Region into at least another name.

The WoS and SJFA had to mutually agree before that happened. If you think the EoS and SJFA will do that anything like as easily then you haven't been paying attention to what has been happening over the last few seasons. Where exactly would SJC games fit into an already very busy programme of EoSFA cup competitions and EoS league fixtures?

EOS and SJFA are already talking to each other about the ML/EOS boundary. And from what I know, those discussions are going amicably. Let's not forget that the people in charge of the SJFA now aren't the same ones as when the SJFA tried to get ERJFA / WRJFA in at tier 6 previously.

I'm pretty sure who the SJFA admits as members is entirely there own business.  They can have anyone they want.

Scheduling of any competition they want to run is entirely a different matter and it doesn't look likely any senior league will give them much space for weekend fixtures.

The EoSFL never stopped the likes of HoB signing up for the Fife FA. Which is the kind of comparison everyone made to the WoSFL clubs when retaining their SJFA memberships. Scheduling of the SJFA Cup is the concern of the SJFA.

Not one Fife team retained their SJFA membership last year and I haven’t seen any mention in the statements from this year’s entrants to say that they are staying in the SJFA.

^^^Bizarre stuff that this small clique of posters (not including patriot1, andrew21 and GordonS in that obviously) who have spent years deriding the SJFA on here don't seem to grasp that it is now finally on its last legs as a national association and that the EoS will almost certainly be steering any new members towards its own cup competitions and the SCC rather than encouraging any of its clubs to participate in the SJC given the havoc that could lead to in fixture list terms. Given the backdrop of 38 league games for the WoS premier next season and the talk of a new west cup in addition to the SCC it's far from certain that the necessary fixture dates will be forthcoming in a WoS context, so the SJC could easily be Tayport and northwards only next season.

It's not bizarre because you've still not grasped it. The EoSFL aren't doing anything. They're just going about their business.

The EoS aren't steering any club away from the SJFA and it's not their job to encourage clubs to stay in the SJFA. That's the SJFA's job.

Correct.  The EoSL is not involved in the future of junior clubs, either remaining or not remaining, as members of the SJFA.

The north of Tayside juniors, may or may not decide to retain SJFA membership (and to continue to participate in the Junior Cup), as they enter the proposed Midland (senior) league for 2021/22. This will become clearer, once the new league holds its first AGM.

The East Region Juniors, who are joining the EoSL, may or may not retain membership of the SJFA, for 2021/22, but this is not something which the EoSL will try to prevent.

The Midland league appears to be coming under the control of the SJFA so all teams in it next season will still be members.

Has there been any indication from any of the WL teams that they will be continuing their membership of the SJFA?

I think Burnieman posted something a few weeks back speculating about WL clubs potentially retaining membership in an EoS context and not having to move to the WoS to be able to do that in pyramd terms but he was quickly corrected by several posters with links to WoS clubs who pointed out that this wouldn't actually possible in an EoS context as things stand at the moment. Other than that there has been nothing along those lines in any of the twitter, website or facebook statements AFAIR.

Bizarre that some of the most anti-SJFA posters on here suddenly seem to be cheerleading its continued existance. Would be good to see the SJC resurrected again in my opinion now that the dust has settled a bit in pyramid terms (odds on the same posse of posters would be arguing vociferously to the contrary if that became a live issue though) but as far as I can see the LL, EoS and WoS are gung ho about the SCC so sadly it looks like its days may already be over south of Tayport.
