Junior football, what is the future?

..... so Scotland, Wales and NI won't be doing this then?

The Minister can only speak for NHS England: health is devolved. AFAIK Nicola hasn't set a target. Probably sensibly!

Everyone and his dog knows that NHS matters are devolved so will the SP follow suite or will they try just to be a little bit different? Guess they need a little time to figure that one out but wouldn't it be good if those  over 18 years of age could look forward to receiving a vaccination? Surely you don't think that's a bad idea do you?

Hey! Adult footballers could play again, the Development Leagues could function, officials could officiate, spectators could attend matches.

What did I say to make you think that?

It would be splendid if everyone in Scotland could be vaccinated by late summer/early autumn. I was simply pointing out that no-one has yet said that will happen.

Genuinely pleased that you don't seem to think that it is a bad idea!

With the jabs on the increase over the next few months, and the hopeful lowering of figures - just put this season on hold and get around to a full completion when possible. All non league football has nowt to do with the Euro's taking place, we don't need the chaos of another null and void fiasco. If that means next season maybe different, so be it.

Cases already on the way down. Hospital admissions and deaths will remain high for 28 days or do after the cases peak but I think the number of cases are the important figures in terms of lockdown restrictions. Hopefully football will be back by March.

Stick a fork in it. This season's done. Next season will hopefully be back to normal.

Why even if only play each team once it at least gives us a season

Yeah, maybe they could do that. The original layout of the season was always going to tough to achieve and is now nigh on impossible. I really hope I'm wrong but I just can't see it.

What chaos? 3 stand alone leagues with no promotion and relegation and one won't exist next year

Was basically the shambles of how to end all the league's in both England and Scotland, PPG etc etc. Should have come from the top, a bit of leadership, far fetched I know. Hopefully next season can be a bit nearer normality with all clubs still intact with fans back !

Pollok reporting that the 19/20 Junior Cup has been cancelled: https://www.pollokfc.com/2021/03/05/19-20-junior-cup-officially-cancelled/

There won't be a 20/21 edition - who knows if there will ever be another one in the future?

I'd imagine there will be a 2021-22 competition. What that will look like nobody knows.

Might be beneficial to do the draw for the First and Second rounds at the same time and early on. Since that would aid sorting out the fixture lists.

I would imagine that we'll be able to play a fairly normal season for 2021/22. Whether or not the WOS teams will actually be able to take part is a second, they will have plenty of league games already, combined with other cups.

People thought that we would be fine from february onwards and we are in a worse state than ever

Perhaps time for a total rethink and revamp. One option would be to play it as a Summer competition that overlaps the traditional seasons. Perhaps there is scope to play the Junior Cup from May to August (with a break in June). With a fixed date arranged for the final in early August.

In my view any attempt to run the competition using the traditional format would end up in tears one way or the other e.g. clubs fielding Development Squads to fulfil fixtures.

I think we've seen a bit of fuss over taking a competition into a second season due to players moving on etc. Don't think that'd be high on the agenda.

It can certainly be carried out within the pyramid. It's just going to take some adjustments to make it work. If the EoS can handle Scottish, SCC, East Qualifying, League Cups for most of their top teams. Then the WoS can manage Scottish, SCC, Junior, and League Cup.

Although this is where competing ideas come in. A West equivalent of the Alex Jack Cup got a mention in the run up to its creation as a concept. Certainly if the South & East Cup Winners' Shield still has a qualifying spot the WoSFL would want an entry point for its teams you would think. Elsewhere you've got the new SJFA CEO with ideas of opening up the Junior Cup.

That's just not true in the slightest though, is it?

Well it is. We had more ppl in hospitals only reason the number in icu wasnt higher was because most of the ppl who would likely need it were sadly nonlonger with us.

I dont deny we are on our way forward but at what cost and as I said we thought that last summer
