If all or most of the west juniors join the WSOL, including presumably Bonyton and perhaps a couple of other SOS teams, any mileage in merging the SOS with the WSOL?

Now would be the time to do it. If enough teams join It may be desirable to make WSOL bottom tiers  regional, and that is where most SOS teams would end up anyway.

It would make the play-offs to the LL a bit more balanced and fairer if nothing else.

Just putting it out there.

I can see some of the south applying and the remainder being pushed down a tier in what's left of the sofs

You're right. Merge them into one big cup, drop the words "South" and "Challenge" from one cup and drop "Junior" from the other. Use the current Junior trophy and everyone is happy. No?
Maybe the existing clubs are quite happy with the South Regional Challenge Cup, many of them have never played in the Junior Cup and fail to see the attraction.

Whereas those coming from Junior are fed up playing in the South Challenge cup?

I think Whitletts Vics may do also.

Whitletts will be submitting an application very soon. I think that most of the West clubs will apply, including those who were a bit sceptical.

But wasn't it also stated that the members would elect their own management committee?

AIUI the new league will be independent, with help from - but not run by - the LL. If that's the case, surely they can make up their own minds about cups.

Correct.a board will be elected by the members.

Why would they join the wosl.when their already playing at teir 6 in the sos dont go by rumours.

Bonnyton could realistically apply so they play in a league that involves less traveling.

There is no need for the junior cup at all. Merge the south challenge and junior cup into one big cup, gives everyone less games, less fuss and less headaches.

Junior fans must get over the fallacy that everyone thinks the junior cup is the best cup out there, clubs should be looking forward, not back, whilst reminiscing about the good old days, thus will hold everyone back.

It's not a fallacy though is it? The Junior Cup is the best tournament in non-SPFL football aside from the senior Scottish Cup. Nothing wrong with retaining a link to the past as we move into the future.

Get every team from tier 5 down into an all-in cup tournament and retain the Junior name and trophy. Retire the South Challenge Cup.

Thats very true.but they would then have to forgo playing at tier 6.and then win or finish in the top 5 of whichever conference league they end up in.said before its every clubs choice.

Kinda agree with using the cup as you say. but its not about old history for both cups its new history so would look to rename it. SFA challenge trophy.or something like that.

Nothing wrong with having ties to the past. One of the best things about Scottish football is a storied tradition and history. Lots of people associate Junior football with non-SPFL football in Scotland. I think retaining that link while evolving and accepting new entries as part of a pyramid structure would be a great way to tie things together.

Were there not supposed to be 20+ applications already last week? A lot of them won't be announced publicly if what happened in the east is anything to go by.

My information is that a good number of clubs have already applied, but not all of them have made it public knowledge, which is their prerogative. There is already enough applications to form a viable league, and many more applications are expected before the deadline.

The irony is that many existing Junior clubs want to shed the Junior name. Then there is the clubs who have never been Junior who probably want nothing to do with a cup tagged Junior. Then there is the clubs who left the Juniors who want nothing more to do with Junior football.

SFA Challenge Trophy sounds a decent name, Final at Hampden possible now the SFA own it maybe.
