Junior football, what is the future?

Spot on - and is relevant to this thread.

Just picking up a couple of points:  I think there's often a general acceptance of mediocrity in this country, not just in football but in many aspects of its life and culture .  'Too wee, too poor, too stupid", instead of standing up and saying "No, we're being held back, we're better than this - what do we need to do to fix it?" And,  "What positive lessons can we learn from other countries that can be implemented here?"

"The future for Junior football", or rather the future for Junior clubs could be so much better - things have improved significantly in the East in the past 2-3 years, now it's time for the West to follow suit.

We are underachievers and we all have a part to play in improving Scottish Football from top to bottom.

Thanks Che Dail.

Your response to Gordon S underlines how important it is to get the West League into the pyramid for next season.

Cumnock Juniors made a statement of intent (about the pyramid) when they applied for an SFA licence, in 2018/19.

Presumably, their licence application has been held in abeyance by the SFA, as their club wasn't playing in a pyramid league, at that time. If they join the new West league, their application can go forward for approval.

Also, can you, or anyone else, recall who  the 2nd Junior club was, who submitted a Licence application last year ?

100% agree

it is important, significant and beneficial to all - especially the clubs who will be making the move 👍

Petershill I believe.

Perhaps word is also seeping out that the last ditch attempt by the WRJFA to get into the Pyramid en-masse has failed.

If that is the case, then surely the SJFA have to update the clubs ?

The latest communication was an email from TJ to the clubs 11 days ago which said that "our continual aim is to meet the mandate given by our member clubs & deliver the pyramid pathway, we are confident this can be achieved."

With the formal application process to the WoSFL expected to open next week, and at least four ERSJFA clubs already formally announcing that they are moving to the EoSFL, then surely time is of the essence for an update on how the SJFA are getting on with these negotiations ?

To be honest, if they did, it would just be more pish.

Maybe it wasn't the SJFA, maybe it was an "undercover" operation by the WRJFA.  I'm not aware the SJFA are in conversation at all with the LL or EoS.

That is massive news. It's definitely happening now. Talbot will have to follow.
It's hardly 'massive'.
I believe that every club in the WRSJFA should declare a statement of interest.
But that's all it is.
An interest to find out first hand from the LL what their intentions are.
There's nothing in Cumnock's announcement to indicate that they're going.

The application process to the proposed new league hasn't opened yet, hence the clubs are currently only making statements of interest.

The LL have only asked at this stage for notifications of interest, and some clubs have decided to make their interest public, others haven't.

When the applications process opens and if clubs start announcing that they have formally applied, that's when we'll get a better idea of the shape of the proposed new league.

True, but it's one of the few statements that has had nothing to say about supporting the efforts of the SJFA.

Where does it state that they are not supporting the efforts of the SJFA?

What efforts?

Fair enough Alan and a decent response from yourself ! We found everyone connected with Camelon to be smashing folk and thoroughly enjoyed our visit despite the scoreline last August.

Newton Stewart were alright as you say you were a few players down. We missed so many chances but your keeper did well that day

Guest Moomintroll

I am utterly agog that some people are still in denial as to what is happening & appear to still be backing Mr Self Interested, he must be astonished that he has managed to pad out his wages, reduncancy payment & Pension for so long.

Rosyth's decision is being attacked, one of them is the "usual suspect"... Is there anyone who can actually see his tweet? I wouldn't mind seeing a screenshot!

Can't see what they said, but did see a guy in the thread say Rosyth are taking a downwards step and joining a poorer standard of football 😂
