the rule must have changed as there are now a fair number of games called off tonight.

Yet Royal Albert were not allowed to factor in the forecast when out game was called off at late notice,

Clear as mud!

What Rule?

Think every team getting pissed of with the stupid rule when it's obvious pitches won't be playable teams are now standing up to the antiquated rules and officials that run the west. IT'S ANARCHY IN THE WEST 🖕

Why were we told we couldn't call tomorrow's game of until then so what your now saying there's no rule . So why in the past club's were told they can't call games of until Saturday care  to explain the rule that did not exist but was used.

we are all in favour of early call offs, but the fiasco at Royal Albert a few weeks ago when the ref said he wasn't allowed to factor in the weather forecast leading to the game being cancelled at 13.10, something must have changed?

Agreed but that fiasco was down to referees and what their organisation tells them what to do who knows

Mr Petrie was in good spirits at last nights meeting with us to discuss the South.

After discussions with other reps, it is now likely we will throw our hat in to the ring and express an interest to join.

Abbey Vale and Creetown are looking to obtain a license soon too. (Latter close to sourcing funds for lights)

Petrie advised that any South club looking to switch should be given priority at T6.

But confused why would Dumfries clubs join a wosl at the same tier?

Be a part of the bigger picture. Cup competitions get more variety. A league with clubs at different capabilities can go up and down the divisions to find their level.

In terms of travel they've been happy enough going to Kilmarnock, Lanarkshire and even Stranraer can be quite a trek for some of the clubs.

Totally get Bonnyton due to location. Just don’t see why we’d have a geographical split now complete and south clubs in the west bit like the east debate.

There's been a bit of a debate with many saying that the SOS is a lower standard even to the West region juniors thus if the WOS starts many think the SOS should be at tier 7, meaning it will be a feeder for the new WOS.  I've been thinking of it and to be honest whatever how many divisions are in tier 6 there will always be a stronger league than another so I'm happy to keep it the way it is and if teams leaves its only really due to they want in the league where there might be more crowds and exposure and to reap more money, personally, nothing wrong with that as long as they are in the defined areas of the association and new association

It's not quite the same as the East since there's only 13 clubs in the South with 2 reserves. See Bonnyton go you're down to 12. There's not a ton of growth there long term.

Stranraer reserves have folded 4 times in the past, Caledonian Braves now have their home in Lanarkshire so they might look to move their team eventually.

For the clubs in the South that eye SFA membership, or have it already, a WOSFL can have a certain attraction. For the South clubs that just want local football it won't.

Presumably that's just Petrie's opinion.

I thought the idea of a WoSFL was to fill a gap to give clubs access to the pyramid who AREN'T being catered for by the SoSFL

So more importantly what's the LL's & EoSL's take on whether ANY applicant clubs get priority treatment?

And if "Geographical Integrity" is an issue what ARE the geographical parameters that apply?

And at what point do the eventual member clubs of the prospective WoSFL get to take charge of their own collective business?

To expand on the growth point D&G is pretty much the only area outside of the Highlands to not have a Saturday Amateur League (two clubs from the eastern periphery of the area from Langholm & Canobie play in the Border's ammies) since the Dumfries & District League folded in 2014. Following it's folding Upper Annandale, Lochmaben & Lochar Thistle joined the SOSL as did recently folded Dumfries YMCA. Other current SOSL clubs played in the past before going senior. D&G only has a Sunday league now & it's unlikely any of them would make the switch.

I've looked at over the border in Cumbria & was unable to find anywhere north of Carlisle with a team as it's all small hamlets & villages.

Tl;dr theres no real pool of teams for the SOSL to draw from.
