Will be interesting to see if Fauldhouse and possibly the other WL clubs opt for the WOS. Would put them further up the pecking order.

That will be the next debate. Where is the dividing line between the new west league and the EoSFL, and indeed between it and the SOS.

In saying the current set up works well in the East and the South, and that there's just the gap in the West they maybe putting a marker down to refer applicants to the EoS.

Looking at the makeup of both junior regions Forth are the easternmost west club with Harthill as the westernmost east club. It's a fairly narrow divide but it's a starting point at least. Ofc Dunipace going to EOS cleaned things up a bit.

If there has to be one, the most obvious dividing line would be the Local Authority boundaries.

Fauldhouse is in West Lothian (and without being told what to do they should probably go to the EoS, where long-term they will thrive); Harthill is in North Lanarkshire, but their ground is in W. Lothian and play in the East region so logic would dictate that they should go east* - but hopefully there's a bit of flexibility around specific cases.

One way or another the big news is that the WoS league is happening at long last, and credit must go to the LL and EoS leagues for taking things forward.

*edit: as corrected!

Harthill Royal play in Greenrigg, which is in West Lothian. Think you'll need to have been in the WRSJFA to get into the WoS, but we'll see what happens.

If flexibility can be offered around where the east/west split is that could have wider repurcussions for the North of tay south of tay question. All be it that is more complicated given its also the LL/HL split. Agree should be flexibility though.

Let's remember given this would be tier 6 there would be nothing to stop a Spfl club applying for their reserve/colt team to join. Difficult to say no given precedence has already been set in the SOS.

It's actually really easy to say no. There's no requirement to just accept applicants. The league will eventually run in line with the others as a membership organization that applications pass by a simple majority.

Hopefully with this being a start up there will be enough interest they won't have to go the reserve team route to pad the numbers.

That's what I would have thought.

In cases where a particular club is an "outlier" ie much close to another league than clubs in their own area, then there's definitely a case to be made.

However Harthill and Fauldhouse are in close proximity to most other WL clubs and have always played in east competition (well, since WW2 anyway) so really should be pointed in the direction of the EoS.

I'm sure there will be more than enough interest in the WoSFL from actual west clubs to fill the vacancies.
