Junior football, what is the future?

Excellent. Makes a lot of sense, although the traditionalists might not like it since they developed from a boys club.

Tradition/history can be a dangerous thing for a club. Just because you have a past, doesn’t mean you’ll have a great future.  In fact I’ll bet many fans and committees out there don’t have any growth strategy at all, merely clubs plodding into obscurity.

If Bonnyton are doing great work in their community - good luck to them will serve them well for the future if they get it right.

But we won't know what club goes into the playoff until the conclusion of the spfl play-off. It could be bottom , 2nd bottom or even 3rd bottom.

You can't have a scenario where a club finished 3rd bottom, gets knocked out in the first league cup game and then sits about waiting for 3 or 4 weeks to find out that a HL side has beaten a lowland area club 42 and now they are chucked into a a play off.

The LL really needs to sort its relegation procedures out, and it is quite simple.  If an 'excess' club is relegated from the SPFL, run with 17 teams the next season, and relegate one extra.  This way everyone knows where they stand at the start of the season, no-one gets relegated based on the result of a play-off at the other end of the country, and the league can indulge in whatever convoluted play-off arrangements it likes.

Any Junior moaner moaning about boys clubs hopefully picket Rossvale on a regular basis with 'down with this sort of thing' placards.

DOWN WITH THIS SORT OF THING...Careful Now" " Poster by jomorley ...

Rossvale in the West Premiership, Gartcairn in the West Championship. They've certainly been giving the 'traditionalists' something to complain about over the years.

It's totally unsustainable for the SofS to remain at Tier 6. I would expect that to change in the next couple of years. How many in the SofS actually want to get promoted? 2-3 at most?

Share your inside info with us ....... who are we talking about here ? I’ve said previously near 200 mile round trips aren’t too appealing for Clubs on limited budgets but hey as you say it may happen and one day soon once all the voting power shifts !

Does everyone that has applied come up to the correct standard. Pitch size 90x 56 metres. Separate changing rooms with seating and clothes hanging facilities for 22 people. As per the Entry criteria set out by the EOSFL. That is to be mirrored across?

You may be right, so why not have it as a regional league within the WoS structure with a pathway for those clubs who do have an apetite and the means to progress?

I'd agree with that - while clubs should celebrate their history, they shouldn't get lost in it. My club was guilty of that a few years back when we plummeted down the leagues...in our first season in the Central Second after an opening day 1-5 horsing at the hands of Stonehouse Violet (RIP), a few of the older boys who were involved at the time were in complete denial: "That shouldn't be happening to us. We're too big a name for us to be where we are...."

I remember saying at the time to them that when all you've got left is your name, you're in big trouble. The fact was that at that point in time we were where we were because we weren't good enough to be anywhere else.

And you do still see that sometimes on here...if a team are in turmoil, as a sort of displacement behaviour some fans go to their happy place: "Aye, but we had a great team in the 70s...remember so-and-so.?" Which is missing the point...you might have had a great team in the 70s, but you've got a shite team in 2020, which is always going to be a more pressing problem.

As many regular posters here already know the EoS criteria are quite flexible so it's highly likely that applications from existing West Juniors won't be rejected. Similarly Bonnyton Thistle who are already in a Tier 6 league. Glasgow University is already licenced so no known ground issues. Drumchapel United PYM have active plans for a new ground and already play at a floodlit all-weather ground which may be(?) acceptable whilst their new set-up is built.

Expect the new league to be positive and to offer guidance to any clubs wishing to join whether now or in the future.
