Might be answered already but is the proposal to stick with one promotion spot into the LL or is that just an assumption?

For now yes. Chances are there won't be a licenced WoSFL champion in whatever shape 2020-21 takes. So its not that pressing an issue.

That is the position for the current season. It will be up to the LL clubs to agree to any change, although I would expect them to come under pressure from the EOSFL and WOSFL, in particular, to increase the number of automatic relegation places..

Equally so, I'm sure that the LL would like the SPFL to automatically relegate club 42, instead of going through a play off process.

We appreciate that there is far more important events happening in the world currently but we would like to say the following:

Dalry Thistle FC can today confirm we will be applying for next season's new West of Scotland senior league.

With thanks to Our friends at Troon Football Club for their guide on FAQ.

Thanks

I don't know that that fact should be relevant.

The whole notion of a pyramid structure, I always thought, is that it offered opportunities for progressive clubs to (ahem) progress.

Having just one club relegated from 16, if perhaps not quite a Closed Shop, is only a kick in the arse off it.

The challenge for WOSFL clubs is to get compliance with a licensing audit by the end of February 2021. I would have thought (notwithstanding the impact of Covid on potential sources of funding), that a few clubs could make that deadline., e.g. Auchinleck, Kilwinning, Clydebank and Cumnock.

They would also have to win the conference play-off as well as being licensed, of course.

Except its not one club relegated. The Lowland League at the start of every season has to consider two relegations due to the unbalanced nature of the SPFL playoff.

Give two promotion chances to Tier 6 with no guarantee of any licenced champion you've got three clubs fearing a relegation that may never come. Give it a season and then the majority of the WoSFL and EoSFL tier 6 leagues will be licenced and it can be reassessed.

First year of the Lowland League didn't have promotion to the SPFL. They had to get most of their clubs licenced as well.

There's always going to be some excuse not to have extra promotion places, the Lowland League needs to be decisive now and get it sorted for next year, not wait around on the never never. There is an enormous bottleneck at Tier 6 which is only going to get worse now that the WoS exists. They need to get a second promotion spot available ASAP.

At the minute you've got 89 of the current licence holders still to be reviewed, plus any other ongoing applications still in the process like St Andrews, Dalkeith etc that will probably be trying again. The way the SFA have behaved previously I can see them sticking to February 2021. The licencing department might be dealing with months worth of backlog that could delay how new applicants are treated. Not to mention new applicants might be losing months worth of time to do work to meet licencing.

With clubs like them, Rossvale and Girvan it's possible that their WoS announcement already happened at the expression of interest stage.

Its not ideal, and I get that. Especially as this season might not see promotion/relegation play out due to COVID19. But its going to be a topic of discussion going forward. By then the WoSFL will have its own voice to raise in NPGB meetings and SFA members to join the EoSFL ones that want more promotion opportunities.

Did a double take there because the intro wording seemed awfy familiar - they've shared our FB post from a couple of days back which is actually a slightly edited version of the Troon FAQ, laying a little more stress than the original on the fact that henceforth the SJFA will only be in charge of the SJC.

Three going down seems about right to me. The issue you have though is the SoS being ay tier 6 and producing champions miles off the level of the likes of Talbot or Bo'ness.

For me the perfect solution would be 3 possible promotion places for licensed clubs to the LL:

1. WoSFL champions

2. EoSFL champions

3. Four way playoff for the third place:

- WoSFL runners-up
- EoSFL runners-up
- SoSFL champions
- Team finishing 14th in the LL

FWF will then point out that everything gets messed up if there is an additional club relegated from SL2!

I know that this structure will not happen because of self-interest. But one can still dream!
