Junior football, what is the future?

They bought a house 20 yards from a football ground, what did they expect?

If only people were that sane.

We have a neighbor who objects to everything, having bought a house next to a football park, who now does everything they can (including waiting till Saturday kick off time to burn his rubbish in his garden so the smoke covers the pitch!) to disrupt us.

The number of baseless complaints to the local authority is astounding, going door to door to try and have us closed down, complaining about the noise, the lights, the carpark, the kids teams, the adult teams, just anything in general.

Never second guess how weird people can be. [emoji846]

Absolutely. Some folk take the term NIMBY to extremes. It's certainly worth Pollok having early discussions with Glasgow City Council. Auchinleck are planning to erect floodlights in the near future, and their ground is surrounded by houses on all four sides. But no-one would dare object ....

One of the issues I would expect Lok to have vs. Talbot is that we are not a club backed by our local community as such, while Talbot are. Lok fans come from all over the South side and beyond. There will be some in walking distance but I'd wager not the majority. I hope there's a solution and it can be sorted out, assuming the club looks to do it.

Presuming clubs will still be allowed a 1400/1430 KO time in winter if they wish it and the floodlights were only used for midweek ties how often would it bother the neebors over a season? A handful of times? Despite objections the council can dingy them if it's for the greater good of the area. A coupla bawbags greeting about having to shut their curtains four Thursdays a year can go slap themselves.

As much as I hate these complainants (in the same way folk who buy houses near airports complain about noise levels when the airport was already there when they bought the house), it wont be "four Thursdays a year" as surely they'd have them switched on for training too, meaning it would be every Tuesday and Thursday (plus the occasional other day depending on when games are scheduled and weather) throughout the darker months if the whole football season.

On Monday the SJFA decided to set up a new West of Scotland league being part of the East of Scotland and Lowland leagues and the club are looking for our opinion on the following options.

Option A. We join the new West of Scotland league and still retain SJFA membership allowing us to still compete in the Junior Cup

Option B. Join the league but no entry to the junior cup.

Option C. We don’t join and probably have to play in a new league in the West Region.

To date there are a few clubs confirmed to be moving to this new league:
Clydebank
Kilwinning Rangers
Bellshill Athletic
Blantyre Vics
Rob Roy
Rutherglen Glencairn

There are more teams supposedly signed up to this new league but the list above are the teams who have confirmed their intentions.

Please comment with your choice and we will pass your opinions on to the club.

Similarly, we can't allow Gartcairn to play any part in this revolution if they can't spell the word "through" correctly. This would lead our members in the aforementioned S & G police to conclude that they are one of these new-fangled "soccer" clubs who ply their trade in an un-terraced "cage" environment to the disadvantage of us wee cuntos who cannae see wtf is going on during the course of the game.

Apart from that...this is great. Once the big Ayrshire clubs join in this will have the makings of the basis for a proper system. After that, the Buffs will no doubt crash and burn again. As usual.

Talking to the council informally before you submit a planning application, is essential, whether you are Lok or Talbot or any other club.

Well Lok manage to do training without them at the moment. Surely an arrangement could be met that limits their use (ie: not for training or youth/reserve games, etc)

Only for 4G parks. Hugely unlikely anyone with a grass park in Scotland, like Pollok, is training on it.

Most of the U20 sides in the LL/EoS development league play on 3G pitches that are part of school or council facilities, rather than on their parent club's grass pitches.

For those parent clubs who play on 3G pitches, they are generally used throughout the week.
