Now would be the time to do it. If enough teams join It may be desirable to make WSOL bottom tiers regional, and that is where most SOS teams would end up anyway. It would make the play-offs to the LL a bit more balanced and fairer if nothing else. Just putting it out there. I can see some of the south applying and the remainder being pushed down a tier in what's left of the sofs

Terry Singh
You're right. Merge them into one big cup, drop the words "South" and "Challenge" from one cup and drop "Junior" from the other. Use the current Junior trophy and everyone is happy. No?Maybe the existing clubs are quite happy with the South Regional Challenge Cup, many of them have never played in the Junior Cup and fail to see the attraction.

AIUI the new league will be independent, with help from - but not run by - the LL. If that's the case, surely they can make up their own minds about cups. Correct.a board will be elected by the members.

Merge the south challenge and junior cup into one big cup, gives everyone less games, less fuss and less headaches. Junior fans must get over the fallacy that everyone thinks the junior cup is the best cup out there, clubs should be looking forward, not back, whilst reminiscing about the good old days, thus will hold everyone back. It's not a fallacy though is it? The Junior Cup is the best tournament in non-SPFL football aside from the senior Scottish Cup. Nothing wrong with retaining a link to the past as we move into the future. Get every team from tier 5 down into an all-in cup tournament and retain the Junior name and trophy. Retire the South Challenge Cup.

Kinda agree with using the cup as you say. but its not about old history for both cups its new history so would look to rename it. SFA challenge trophy.or something like that.

Lots of people associate Junior football with non-SPFL football in Scotland. I think retaining that link while evolving and accepting new entries as part of a pyramid structure would be a great way to tie things together. -

Terry Singh
The irony is that many existing Junior clubs want to shed the Junior name. Then there is the clubs who have never been Junior who probably want nothing to do with a cup tagged Junior. Then there is the clubs who left the Juniors who want nothing more to do with Junior football. SFA Challenge Trophy sounds a decent name, Final at Hampden possible now the SFA own it maybe.
