Junior football, what is the future?

I wonder if this story in the press today about the possibility of spfl division 2 sides being given a choice they have to declare at the start of the season if they would drop into the LL or HL if end up bottom, could be a prerequest of the SFA supporting the LL/EOS WoS proposal if they support this choice of league proposal.
Got a link to this at all?

This is a nice little hare to set running isn't it?

In theory this could give Elgin City or Peterhead the choice to go down to the Lowland League - well, if their players are from there why not? There-again if Brechin or Montrose or Forfar etc went down they could choose whichever route back is the easier and that may be the Highland League - especially as the Lowland League becomes stronger.

This idea would have to be approved by all parties so maybe automatic relegation/promotion between Div.2 and the Highland/Lowland play-off winners could be demanded as the price for this change?

Who knows!

I’m not sure there would a lot of traction behind this, these stories rarely do. often taken from a 30 second rough idea that some director has said without much substance and some journalist who hasn’t filled their column yet takes it runs a story about ‘secret plans’ in place to completely alter Scottish Football.

Sounds like another favour has been called in tae the press so we can have the now infamous Elgin on a Tuesday nite rolled out !!

It's the same person that posted how the boundary was going to be decided last month. At the moment it has as much validity as SPFL3, Colts in a 12 team SPFL2 and all the other proposals that pop up.

And doesn't make it sound like it would save Brechin this year if they go down.

Utterly stupid idea so it’ll probably happen in this country. What if say Wick, Brora or Orkney were to get to SPFL 2, get relegated and decide the Lowland League was the better option. Annan take a look at the LL decide it’s too strong and chose the HL as the teams are weaker. Extreme scenarios but under that proposal possibilities.

Set a boundary between HL/LL, say it’s permanent, if you relegated you go whichever side of the line you’re on. Clubs like Brechin will just have to alter their recruitment of players which as things stand isn’t working anyway.

Clydebank FC can today confirm it has agreed to support the West of Scotland league as proposed by the Lowland League.

The club board has continued to explore all available opportunities to join the Scottish FA pyramid.

There are currently two proposals pending with the Scottish FA for a West feeder to the Lowland League: a West of Scotland league facilitated directly by the Lowland League, and alternatively a league to be run by the West Region SJFA.

The club board met last night and has agreed to support the West of Scotland league as proposed by the Lowland League.

We understand applications for that league will open soon. We will keep all Trust members updated on that process.

As a result of this, club director Matt Bamford has stood down from his office bearer roles from the West Region and SJFA.

Matt served as President and Vice President respectively, and the club board places on record their thanks to Matt for his service to the organisation.

Brechin will have to alter their recruitment no matter what league they are relegated into anyway. That's what happens after relegation.

Imagine changing a whole league structure to suit Brechin City. Brass neck

Twitter melt down in 3.....2.....1

No surprise in the Bankies backing it, they’ve always been looking to return to the Senior leagues and aren’t a traditional Junior team so less entrenched in their views. Interesting to see if other clubs respond.
