Junior football, what is the future?

Why is everyone saying they are going to Elgin on a Tuesday night. Do they think they are going to get win the Top WOS league or the top EOS or SOS league and then win the playoff matches and then on top of that have the correct facilities/stadium to even get into the lowland league.  Then Elgin need to get relegated from Scottish division 2 in order for these teams to play Elgin in the Lowland league

All this argument about Elgin is just utter crap, Joke or no Joke

The LL could have agreed to Option Z, but didn't so maybe they are OK with that imbalance. It only becomes a problem if automatic promotion was brought in and don't hold your breath on that ever happening.

No, they couldn't have agreed to that and you know that.

It was a ridiculous idea. Why did the West Region recommend the only option that meant another League had to alter its format to accommodate Junior clubs? Why would they change something they probably think was successful for someone else. No wonder they don't want ANYTHING to do with the Juniors.

And perhaps relocate their town below THE LINE, wherever it may be at that time!

It came from Rod Petrie rather than the SJFA by all accounts. If the LL were hugely bothered about the imbalance they had a solution provided to them. Not having the SJFA anywhere near the pyramid took priority over that so the imbalance may not be much of a concern.

"They had a solution provided to them", no they didn't.  Did you seriously think that the LL would split in half to accomodate a bunch of unlicenced Junior clubs at tier 5?  Do you think the SPFL would have agreed to three feeders instead of two? Fantasy stuff.    Give the blame game a rest.

But the West Region Management Committee that recommended the clubs support this option.

It's indeed madness that they recommended that. The LL couldn't even say yes to that themselves if they wanted to, as both changing the Tay boundary and going from 2 to 3 feeders into SPFL2 would have to involve agreement of both the HL & SPFL. The SPFL would never agree to that. And this was the only option TJ wanted to talk about at the PWG, without being willing to move. That's not how negotiations work...

What on earth is your malfunction? A split LL would have evened up the tier 5 feeders in population terms. How on earth does mentioning that possibility turn into a blame game? I don't give a flying one whether option Z or WoS is the route that is used just as long as this process finally reaches its destination.

Malfunction? try reading what I wrote, and then start dealing with reality rather than the voices in your head.

The problem for clubs like Brechin isn't how far the games are from their town but their players.

Most players come from the central belt and it's not uncommon for teams to train in the central belt twice a week and meet players for away games at the ground. They only see Brechin in for home matches.

If suddenly player needs to head to Banff and Buchan every week they just won't attract those players.

I can see why from Brechins point of view they would do all they can to get around this.

How many of those players will remain if Brechin are relegated regardless of HL/LL?

People tend to avoid that point. Nobody wants to look at how East Stirlingshire and Berwick Rangers have had to adjust to being out the SPFL. Unless relegated clubs start stumbling across sugar daddies they aren't going to compete for the same kind of players regardless of what league they are in.

Simple update to the Lowland League constitution

c) In the event of Club 42 losing the Pyramid Play-Off Match, it will be relegated to the SHFL League if its Registered Ground is located lots of their players live North of Degree of Latitude 56,4513N or to the SLFL if its Registered Ground is located South of Degree of Latitude 56,4513N  prefers and it shall thereafter comply with the rules and regulations of the relevant league.

Sorted 🙂

Seems fair 🤣
