The statement from the SoSFL isn't exactly helpful to the situation either, looks like TAJ has them in his pocket......................

SSFL statement regards Scottish Football Pyramid

Fri 7 Feb, 2020

In principal, the South of Scotland Football League (SSFL) is supportive of efforts to expand “The Scottish Football Pyramid” and specifically Tier 6 of Scottish football.

SSFL recognises that to ensure “The Pyramid” covers the whole country the West of Scotland should have a League at some level.

SSFL believes that any League being introduced into “The Pyramid” should be at Tier 6, to supplement the existing Leagues at that level ie SSFL and East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL).

As part of the Pyramid Working Group, SSFL is disappointed that consensus could not be reached to develop “The Pyramid”.

SSFL opinion is that neither personal interest, whether of the individual or an individual’s club, nor historical or personal relationship issues, should be allowed to overshadow the greater good of developing the Scottish Football Pyramid.

There are some proposals being discussed to establish a new League in the West of Scotland at Tier 6.

SSFL opinion is that establishing a new League would create further divisions and ill feeling between existing Organisations and is unnecessary.

Creating a new League might mean clubs leaving their existing Organisations and the possibility of being ineligible to compete in their historical Cup Competitions.

With regards to the formation of a new League, there have been no discussions, to which SSFL has been party, with regards to subjects such as geographical boundaries for each League, nor how promotion to the Scottish Lowland League (SLFL) would be managed.

To that end, SSFL believes there may be a readymade solution to the issue of coverage within the West of Scotland.

One solution might be the SJFA West Region League structure being parachuted into “The Pyramid”.

This means there would be no requirement to establish an alternative West of Scotland League.

Whilst it would appear that some parties have issues with the SJFA and its personnel, the SSFL have no such issues with SJFA being the administration with responsibility for the West League.

Currently the SSFL and EoSFL have several differences in their Competition rules, with both also being different to SLFL rules, so sees no reason why each League should not work to their own rules.

The Scottish FA has previously indicated that they do not have the resource within their departments, especially the Disciplinary Department, to manage discipline for a large number of additional clubs.

The SJFA has had its proposed disciplinary process, to bring them into line with the Judicial Panel Protocol, audited and approved by the Scottish FA.

SSFL opinion is that as long as any play off rules and regulations are consistent for all parties, including regards for registrations and discipline, there should be consensus for progress.

SSFL calls upon all interested parties to work together within a “how we can do” mentality rather than seeking every reason for a why we can’t do.

Quite the mixed bag complaining about no discussion how a WoSFL would work within the playoff format and geographic boundaries, only to say parachute the West Region in. You're still going to have the same issues.

Still a lot of questions like what happens to the considerable sum that the sjfa has in its bank account if it no longer continues to exist? Who would the new officials be? Would the SJFA not be in a much stronger position to run the west league

Maybe not that surprising. The SoS is at a "false" level just now. Any changes are likely to diminish that level and any influence the office bearers might have.

The EoS took away some of the top clubs like Dalbeattie Star from the SoS catchment in the past, so there may be some old resentments there.

Bring in a new WoS and let SoS clubs apply to if if they want then remove the league from the pyramid.  It can't be at tier 6 in its present state.  Give the clubs that opportunity to join the WoS and remain in the pyramid or let them go back to the SAFA and reform the Dumfries amateur league if they aren't interested in the WoS.

Not that anyone asked but my preference, if not tomorrow, but in time would be.

Lowland League

EosL/WoSL (border running down Lanarkshire and Dumfriesshire. With as many divisions as necessary below that organised into SoSL, Ayshire league, Glasgow league, Fife league - whatever suits

Highland League

Grampian League - all counties of former Tayside and Grampian regions

Northern League - Everything in old Highland Region

Any club can choose to join another league with the agreement of both leagues affected

In time the HL would be nothing like what it looks like today but tough shit. It was set up for a particular set of circumstances 100 years ago that no longer exists.

Who’s mentioned leaving the West Region? No one
4 have publicly mentioned they’d like more information regarding a new WOSL
St Ants statement is inaccurate and it’s this sort of thing that drives clubs apart.
The LL and EOS have no planned meetings involving the SJFA
The SFA have been invited (supposedly) to the SJFA Management meeting next week, but this is only gossip based as no statement or plan has been sent to clubs from the SJFA or West Region.
Kilwinning Rangers still haven’t been contacted officially in any form by the SJFA to explain the path ahead despite other clubs statements mentioning talks are on going, we can only act on the information we have and that so far is an email from the SJFA saying the PWG hasn’t delivered any outcome

Where does it say in the statement anything about the LL and EOSL? Whats inaccurate about it?

I'm sure you could ask Colin Chisholm...

Again what part of the statement mentioned the pwg?
'discussions with the SFA'. All discussions in regards to the pyramid have been done through the PWG (SFA, LL, EOS, SOS & SJFA) which has been dissolved due to being unable to reach agreement/concensus.

None of it.  So what are the "ongoing discussions" with the SFA if none of the three senior leagues are involved?  What have St.Anthony's been told that others haven't?

More bluster from the SJFA to try and stop clubs wanting to leave, making them think there's still a chance of the SJFA entering the Pyramid.  Nothing we haven't seen before.

Solidarity to the Juniors. Ants with board members in high places saying ‘stay strong and support the juniors’.

Let’s say the ‘Juniors’ do get in en mass - at least in the west. And let’s put aside the fact they wouldn’t be ‘Junior’ any more. Promotion and relegation would mean that they’d stay together for one season- and that would be it. And if the pro and rel is set at three teams each division, then within 3/4 years they’d be nothing like the unit they currently are.

I understood that if the Juniors as a whole or WoSL comes in it will be at tier 6, therefore level. Any left over juniors won't be at any level. Am I wrong?

If this West Senior League goes ahead then the Juniors will be below that. The new League be at the same level as the South League. I hope Option W can be revisited. Only the League winner would leave the Juniors - IF they are Licenced. But Burnie_man seems to suggest that's impossible. And until the West Region can produce evidence that it is possible I'm going to have to believe him. The West Region's previous recommendation failed.

If the West seniors goes ahead the remaining juniors will have no connection to it.
