B of D unlikely to apply, as they have stated recently.

If Brechin are relegated and replaced by a LL club, HFL wouldnt accept any new teams anyway, as they'd be back to their normal 18 clubs.

Maybe, but it would be hard for the SHFL to knock back an application to join the league from a licensed club.

Spot on couldn’t agree more, but for some reason posters on this repetitive thread started to blame Talbot for the situation we have found ourselves in.

I know but the ‘we are loyal to the juniors’ shtick and the statement from your committee when at the same time they are involved in discussions to leave is a bit much.

Yes. As far as I can recall, the HFL has gone on record as saying that if the number of clubs exceeds 20, they will split into two divisions (?).  This implies that they will accept 19 or 20 clubs under the present single division structure.

The SFA wants the HFL to reduce to 16 clubs, but they clearly can't enforce it.

Then I don't really care about keeping the trophy on anymore. Either the pyramid leagues ask the SFA to create a competition or the LL/EoS/SoS rebrand the SFA South Region Challenge Cup into something more inclusive and ask the HL to join. The HL might well reject paricipating the first season or two due ot fitting it into their calendar. However, i'm sure they'll come round and shouldn't stop SFA South Region Challenge Cup going through a rebranding.
EDIT: Drum up a sponsor change the name. Nobody will notice if the HFL aren't involved, especially if it comes with a bunch of West of Scotland clubs joining.

It's not for Talbot to do all the running and talking. That's for their bosses at the football association, And certain numpties in here won't sway them.
Talbot will leave when they feel the time is correct.

Oh my its a bit rich when you call other people numpties but dont get that it actually IS for Talbot to do the running and if you dont think they have been then you need to ask questions of your committee because they have. The SJFA is it seems now out of the talks and just shows how far in the dark you are if you think that they will lead you into the pyramid.

The SFA should cut off any possibility of Junior teams qualifying for the Scottish Cup proper.

Watch what happens then!

There's meant to be a proposal going in front of this year's SFA AGM to remove all qualifiers from the Scottish Cup junior, amateur and senior.

With the Scottish Cup needing a reshuffle with all the new members it might well pass. From a senior point of view all you're losing is unlicenced EoS & SoS Champions and the South & East Cup winners shield winner. The league champion spots are rarely used and in the EoS likely never used again. So it won't be missed except by the smallest clubs in the senior game.

Official Statement regarding the latest update from the Pyramid Working Group

It is with regret that recent talks at the Pyramid Working Group (PWG) ended without any consensus on a way forward for the introduction of a West of Scotland League at Tier 6.

The Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL) and East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) are strongly committed to the principle of having a structure in place that allows clubs from all parts of the country to find their level in Scottish football. Both Leagues fully support the expansion of the Pyramid in a constructive and orderly way that allows this to happen.

The current system works well for clubs in the East and South of the Lowland League catchment area however there is an obvious gap in the West of the country, both Leagues feel strongly that a West of Scotland league at tier 6 is therefore required to allow clubs in all grades within that area the opportunity to participate in the Pyramid should they so wish. As a result, we now plan to take the process forward, respecting the interests of all clubs and bodies but ensuring that every club in the Lowland area has opportunity to progress through the Pyramid.

Issued by –

George Fraser (Chairperson,SLFL), and John Greenhorn (Chairperson, EoSFL)

So now we sit back and see who publicly declares an interest today? They wouldn't release this statement without knowing some clubs would come forward to get the ball rolling. Right? RIGHT?
