Junior football, what is the future?

So West Juniors, East Juniors, EoSL and SoSL all at tier 6?

That seems a bit stupid.  Surely just delaying the inevitable mergers further down the line?  Seems that all it is doing is preserving a handful of posts in the Juniors Governing body.

And no indication of how they will be sorting out the River Tay issue or what they are doing with the Northern Juniors.

It mentions existing West and East Region Leagues with connectivity to the Lowland League. So the HL/LL boundary is likely to change. The statement also appears to have been written up following a meeting of the Professional Game Board rather than the Non-Professional Game Board or Pyramid Working Group.

Which suggests the majority of the SPFL, Highland and Lowland are okay with the HL/LL boundary being changed.

It's not all that different from what happened in England when the Southern and Isthmian Leagues wound up having overlapping catchments after the Isthmian league joined despite not being involved as a feeder initially when the Alliance Premier was formed. The good thing is that an all in pyramid finally appears to be happening. Hopefully the junior cup will be rejigged to be all in for tier 6 and below.

Yes initially there were 'historic' overlapping catchment areas, but in the main this is currently not the case.  This is because the English FA (re)allocates clubs annually, as it controls the pyramid (and also reviews its structure periodically), moving clubs as appropriate given their location. There are appeal rights to the Football Association, which makes the final decision. about which promoted/relegated clubs, play in which league each season. If the SJFA retains a role in the Scottish pyramid, there will be chaos, especially in the East.

If there are to be changes to tier6 then amalgamation in the East will have to happen. Ridiculous to think the other areas would tolerate 2 avenues to progress in the East. The only question is when the merge of the East Juniors and the EoSFL will happen and what the arrangements would be.

All that needs to happen is for the former members of the ERSJFA to rejoin the Juniors and the EOSFL will end up back on the edge of the abyss they were staring into before the defectors saved them from extinction.
The feed into the LL will then be a true Pyramid of East and West.

Next seasons EOS top flight will be streets ahead of the East Juniors top flight, why would clubs take a backwards step?

You do realise that the LL clubs pretty much all originated in the eos? That the league has been a senior league for a number of years and is part of the pyramid already? From all of the information shared via emails etc there hasn't been one single, evidence based conclusion. It is all still up in the air and yet to be finalised. Now I know people wont come on here and give a forum the answer directly but until an official announcement is made there is really very little to get excited about.

Aye, and look at them now.
Shiting themselves at the thought of the Juniors, especially the West Region, coming in and upsetting their gravy train, that they're trying to promote the idea of a LL2. Thereby preserving their status as a senior league and their own continuation in that league.

The LL will be a senior league whether the juniors come or not of if LL2 is created or not. Infact LL2 will be a senior league. So will the junior leagues if they move over.

It's probably more likely that the West Region coming in at tier 6/7/8/9 will happen before a LL2 ever comes into existence.  That said, if I were a west based LL club, would I be happy at potentially being relegated into a league under the jurisdiction of the SJFA? probably not, and that probably drives it rightly or wrongly.

Im not shitting myself from the west we need the west end. We want the rest of the SOuth of Tay Juniors to join us in EOSFL. Most clubs other than dinosaur ones want to go back to not knowing fixtures and being able to have there own rules which they won't be able to have next season in the pyramid anyway so pretty much won't be junior other than a name anyway. WE aren't coming back so go get real you twat

Or a more rational, grounded and alternative perspective could be that there are lots of strong teams now on board or coming on board in the coming period and the LL wish to have more teams under their banner, in short increasing their size from 16 to potentially 32 so that the strongest of the licensed clubs can play under their banner.

This opens up more potential for increasing promotion and relegation places in both the LL and spfl 2. It also opens up a greater package to be sold for sponsorship etc and generates another aspect to the pyramid set up.

The sheer number of licensed clubs in the next year would guarantee enough teams for this to be put in place and having a wosfl and eosfl feeding the LL (1 or 2) is only a good thing.

Not sure there is much in the way of a fear, but more a realisation that the quality of teams potentially coming on board may require another rung in the ladder, which is fine if managed correctly and there are more than 1 or 2 relegation and promotion places.

Also, it isnt the LL who decide if this LL2 will happen or not, its the collective....they have put it out there, it can be rejected I'm sure.

One would hope that rather than a level 5 and level 6 LL there will be two level 5 divisions.

Then you would have 3 feeder leagues for the spfl 2, regional leagues are for further down for me....not tier 5. I think the LL and HL are more than enough to battle over a place in the spfl, 3 would be far too much. Again, for any LL subsidiary, there is the licensing aspect whereby clubs would ha e to be licensed to participate. How many top league west clubs are license ready, would be able to be license ready or want any part of playing in the LL? (I ask this as I don't know)

The SPFL clubs won't vote for this suggestion, and nor will the HFL. A step too far.

Maybe possible in 5-10 years, by which time the 'integrated' pyramid will have bedded in.

If the SJFA don't get their finger out and sort issues such as fixture allocation then they will be continually looked on as a laughing stock. The Junior game is suffering from a credibility issue at the moment, and if it's not sorted more clubs will follow Kelty's path.

If the WoSL doesn't happen in 2019/20, will Clydebank (thereafter) become the 'Kelty of the West' once the redevelopment of Holm Park is completed ?

The recent announcement of pyramid progress, was a step in the right direction, but the devil is in the detail, and it is November tomorrow.

Can you tell us what the position is re Glasgow University and the pyramid Robert? Do they intend to join the WR, SoS or remain as they are?

Would the University be prepared to start at Tier 9 in the WR?

Why should they. They should be tier 6 in wosfl and someone would move down to accommodate that for 4 leagues of 16. For me.junior tag needs to go because it's not going to be juniors once it's in pyramid

I'm not too sure the Lowland League would pursue it right now either. Bigger goal for them would be getting the SPFL to accept automatic relegation for 42nd.
