Junior football, what is the future?

I know a lot of folk seem to be outraged that teams like Abbey Vale or Dumfries YMCA would be at the same level as Pollok or Talbot but does a South of Scotland league need to be a feeder to the West of Scotland as a lot of people want? I'm gonna presume promotion/relegation spots will open up in years to come but if the South clubs are happy in their own league, and West and East clubs are happy in theirs, and they'll only meet for promotion/relegation play offs (which South teams will lose 9 times outta ten) what harm is a three way split? If there is a Tayside league, and then North juniors come in, that's a two way divide below the Highland League and the NCL can come in as well. Gives the pyramid a nice symmetry. Allows clubs to keep their travel low as well.

The NCL should be an HFL feed, but only if the SFA/PWG recognise that promotion should not be compulsory at tier 6 or 7. The reason for this is that geographical location is critical, both in terms of cost and remoteness. For example Orkney FC are current NCL champions, and are understood to be looking at options for a  new ground, but it is very unlikely that they could play a 34 game season in the HFL.    Compulsory promotion can lead to financial ruin, not helped by players leaving clubs, rather than face significantly longer travelling.  Some clubs in the SoSL are in a similar situation, and clearly don't want promotion.

The only thing that could save that ever so slightly is if the south of the Tay sides joined the EoS. Then the Tayside league could join the north later. It makes you wonder if an agreement has been reached for the North Juniors.

It will be up to the clubs in the SoSFL obviously, but I could imagine they'd rather feed into a west league at tier 6 rather than the LL. If the WoSFL (or whatever it will be called) will end up at the same level as the South league the South champions will likely be battered every single promotion play-off, meaning they'll only have a theoretical route into the LL rather than one that would work in practise. However, if they feed into a west league, a club can get promoted into there and then get ready for the next step up if they are ambitious.

Hearing that the madness has won through and East/West Juniors will actually be joining at level 6 and there will be a 4 way play off for 1 promotion place, hearing that this is what the SFA are pushing for. If this is the case its utter madness. I can see the point in the West Juniors just slotting in despite it not being my own preferred option, but to have two east leagues covering the same area in the pyramid is mental.
The tayside clubs should have to go to the Highland league, has to be a line created somewhere and the existing line is perfectly reasonable.

It's not all that different from what happened in England when the Southern and Isthmian Leagues wound up having overlapping catchments after the Isthmian league joined despite not being involved as a feeder initially when the Alliance Premier was formed. The good thing is that an all in pyramid finally appears to be happening. Hopefully the junior cup will be rejigged to be all in for tier 6 and below.

I was having a look at the numbers of clubs beneath the SPFL, especially in light of the HL/LL boundary potentially moved to accomodate East Region clubs. Kept it to the 3 rough regions the leagues usually get divided up into:

Juniors preference:

Can't wait for the farts in suits to have a meeting to decide what to call the competition, so as not to offend the sensitive.

Who else in the west is going with Clydebank?
Bar Clydebank its all a bit quiet on the western front. No club have made definitive noises. Only thing of substance was the survey that came out earlier in the year but that was before the exodus out east to the EOS.

If i'm remembering right the next PWG meeting is scheduled for 30th October. After the last one news filtered through over a plan for the West Premiership, East Super League, EoS and SoS all sitting at Tier 6, with a different belief that new WoS and Tayside leagues would be created.

EoSL is tier 6.
The EOS splits into regular divisions next season based on this seasons conference rankings. Clydebank would go into tier 7 or 8 depending where the EOS adds regional splits ie north/south. They might even forego these regional splits all together.

This obsession that we have to have the Junior cup for all non league. We have South Challenge cup for all teams non league which would be the for all the west aswell if they moved over.

Yes but they will have divisions at tier 7 due to the numbers involved.
If there is no WoSL next year i’d expect Bankies to move. Regardless it requires an egm and majority vote to cancel the agreement to move to the senior leagues.

If the West Juniors are in at tier 6 then the Junior tag will be in name only as they will have to adhere to all the same rules and regulations as the rest of the leagues at tier 6 of the pyramid.

Why would the club want to travel to the East every 2nd week to play at a lower level?  That would be utter madness.

Its not clear that they’d allow the juniors to be licensed. Id prefer to move for a variety of reasons. Theres not much difference between travelling east than there is travelling to deepest darkest Ayrshire. After all the sh1te we’ve put up with recently why would any Bankies fan want to stay junior, thats the real madness.

It will all become clear. At the moment nobody can get a license!

As of last night, the licensing embargo has been lifted. It will be interesting to see how many ex-juniors will be licensed in the near future.
