Junior football, what is the future?

With the way things currently are south of the Tay Bridge, any clubs deciding that remaining where they are is the answer have failed to understand the significance of the question.

Strictly speaking the promises on the table to the club's from junior hierarchy still stand.

Clearly most of those teams have seen through the charlatans but some have not.

To be fair to many of the "lower ranked" teams.

With the ever decreasing chances of being a top 16 eos team they are perhaps as well to be in the superleague for one year anyway.

Will probably enter the eos on a level par eventually alongside the rest.

This is if the eos regions tier 7 as opposed to having a single league at 7 then 8 etc.

Think the idea of two conferences made sense when there were as many applicants as there was clubs already in the EoS league (and now the "original" EoS teams are being dwarved by Junior refugees) but I can't see that happening again. Any junior clubs deferring to next year will surely go to the bottom of the pile?

Yeah for the smallest (Kirkcaldy YM etc)  there remains some logic but for the others? I just don't see it. *if* the EoS does get 40 odd teams in, what will the struvture be in 19-20? 3 vertical divisions, a L6 and 2 regional L7s? Say LR, they could sit it out this year then be faced with joining at tier 8. If the BU or Bonnyrigg win the EoS and promotion, they'll be 2/3 divisons apart. If some are gambling on the WoS being a short-cut, surely there'll be some guidance as to the regions and their boundaries. The nonsense of clubs playing outwith their region by choice (Gretna EoS EK EoS, Clydebank wanting to be EoS etc...) might come to an end - if you're West you're west and vice versa.

If Linlithgow for some unbelievable reason decide to stay imagine how poor the league will be next season! How will they sell season tickets?? It could turn out a total shambles!

But one committee member has been vociferous in saying that Bathgate and Whitburn with their supports will save us !! Nothing against Bathgate but their average away support is probably about 20.

IF (big if) eos were to go regional below its top league of 16 then all future applicants would be "safe" at tier 7.

If they decided on straight leagues then many as you say would be cast into the wilderness of tier 8 or potentially 9.

Eos hold all the cards.

4 leagues 2019/20

How far behind will "remainers" be? Once the EoS settles down, I expect a 1st and 2nd division, then districts. Or even one division above districts. In either case, hopefully, any delay won't be catastrophic. It's still not good, but as said earlier, it shouldn't be a huge issue for the teams lower down the ER SJFA now.

You would have to think anyone waiting till next season will be Tier 7 at best, maybe 8, you would be a risking a lot leaving it till next year. All the best players in the east will want to be at Tier 6 minimum so clubs in 19/20 will struggle unless paying over the odds

There’s also no guarantee that junior clubs will be in the same league as their closest rivals

That's even the case in the Juniors - no guarantee that LR will be in same league as Bathgate and Whitburn.

True, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the smaller sides (like current south division ones) are deliberately waiting one season, so they can just tag along at the bottom playing teams roughly their level rather than suffering quite a few heavy defeats in a transitional season. It doesn't make sense for any remaining Superleague or better Premier teams to wait with applying.

Correct Fuzzy, bathgate havent got a big support!!!

Was at the Creamery last April for the derby game vs Whitburn.

It was like a whitburn home game, the away support was easily 3 or 4 times the size of the home crowd.

Ie represent one of the club's.

I haven't actually checked the EOS rules, but I'd be surprised if anyone other than full members could be elected as committee or office-bearers. That would rule out any of the new members until the end of their first season.

There will probably be some sort of fudge where a few can be co-opted to the committee, with no voting rights.

Latest list from FairWeatherFan:

There have been some recent rumblings about Lithgae, Sauchie and Oakley (Marten's post above seems to rule out Fauldhouse and Thornton for now) and given the way Arniston flew under the radar to make it onto last week's list of four there could still be some surprises.

To answer my own question.I could be wrong as information from 2016 handbookEast region vice president James Provan Broxburn Athletic.Presumably he will have resigned his position at east region (or at broxburn) and issued a statement ?

It would appear that no other delegate is associated with a moving club as yet.

Les Donaldson mbe jp Linlithgow is a sjfa delegate

Main officials are at Oakley and Whitburn
