Newtongrange Star FC

Following consultation with our Members, Supporters and the Management team, we the committee of Newtongrange Star have come to the conclusion that the future of the Football Club lies within the Scottish Football Association pyramid system and will therefore be applying for membership of the East of Scotland FA for the coming season 2018/2019.
This has been a very difficult decision to make due to our long history within the Scottish Junior Football Association and the ERSJFA. However, we feel the lack of clarity, the lack of information and the lack of urgency when it became apparent that a lot of clubs were considering leaving the Junior Association means that we must end our time in the Juniors. It was our intention to continue in the Juniors as they progress towards the pyramid but recent events and meetings that we have attended resulted in our belief that the SJFA will be unable to deliver the ERSJFA Superleague the tier 6 level in the pyramid as was first proposed. Bringing the suggestion of a East/West combined league to the table at this stage is further evidence that should this happen then this would be at tier 6 not the East Superleague. We wish the SJFA and  ERSJFA all the best for the future.
As for our own future we intend to work towards the SFA Club Licence and have set up a working group to examine what we require to do to gain the Licence. We also intend to work together with Newtongrange Star Youth Development Academy and enter a under 20's team into the East of Scotland under 20's league. The club must move forward and modernise to ensure the future of the club for the next generations of Star Supporters and Players.
We look forward to the new challenges and forging new friendships in the East Of Scotland FA.

Don't remember who posted the comment "mutually assured decline" recently, but if they don't stop worrying about doing something radical for fear of losing the derby and get together and go for it, it's probably going to be accurate, unfortunately. If they had been bold back when the LL had been formed there's a good chance one of them would be in the SPFL by now.

There are of course WoS clubs in the LL right now, but they don't seem to count in the eyes of inbred yokels from the county that time forgot, which I'm happy to say I escaped from myself in 1984.

There are 2/16 LL teams playing in what you might generously call the west. Cumbernauld is very much in central Scotland. EK is the only genuinely LL team in the west ... unless you think Alloa is in the west too.

I think, when you left in 1984, you left behind any knowledge you had of the west of Scotland.

Cumbernauld has a G postcode and their Junior side play in the West Region SJFA.

By my reckoning 7 or 8 sides are East of Cumbernauld in the West Region SJFA.

The isle of Colonsay has a PA postcode. What’s your point?

Everyone is assuming that the league still has space, have they stopped to consider they might need to wait a year and join at tier 7, I can’t see much sympathy for them either tbh

If a Colonsay side wanted to enter a side in the juniors they'd be in the West? Dunno? What's your point?

Cumbarnauld United ( West Region) - Cumbernauld Colts (nope not WoS)

Kello Rovers (West Region) - Dalbeattie Star, Gretna 2008, Edusport Academy (nope not WoS)

With Edusport looking to rebrand soon they'll probably looking to move closer to Glasgow again having started out in Hamilton, and of course that's BSC Glasgow's long term aim as well. Sure they'll just roll over at the SJFA's behest.

And so do I but so does the whole of Argyll I think, Isles included.

Cumbernauld is not a rural area, it was built as Glasgow overspill and is in Lanarkshire. If Cumbernauld is East, then Wishaw, Shotts, Lanark etc, all as far east or more eastern, all don't count as West I assume?
