Some interesting cup games coming up starting tomorrow night-think BSC and EKFC will progress as CCs have struggled with too many injuries to key players and BSC will look to put their Scottish Cup exit behind them.

Some cracking ties on Saturday, weather permitting!!

I thought the 7th killed off any hope of a comeback. Horrible night for it got soaked heading out.

I took in the Spartans-Ormiston game last night.

It was coming on for Spartans' second-strength XI and they made very easy work of Ormiston though it was competitive for the first 10min or so. Quite a number of the goals were very soft, although to his credit the Ormiston 'keeper also pulled off several good saves... Both sides missed a few good chances, including Spartan hitting the post in the first half, and Ormiston striking the crossbar in the second - which was played at an unsurprisingly reduced pace. There was also a remarkable "miss of the season" for Spartans mid-way through the first half, although credit the Ormiston defender for being there to deflet it.

Bonnyton Thistle 1-3 BSC Glasgow
Cumbernauld Colts 1-0 East Kilbride
Lochar Thistle 1-3 Dalbeattie Star (at Palmerston)

Result of the night undoubtedly at Broadwood where in the repeat of last season's final the holders exited at the hands of the conquered... Dalbeattie made what looks relatively easy work of the SSL leaders, having led 3-0... Two goals in the last 30mins sealed victory for BSCG at Bonnyton, who'd pegged them back to 1-1.

Great result for CCs at Broadwood...although CCs are maybe the youngest squad in the LL they were very well organised and deserved their victory...EK had a couple of decent long range efforts that hit the woodwork but aside from that they didn't really penetrate the CCs defence that looked solid throughout.

Excellent result for Cumbernauld.  We had a strong lineup last night.  I hope their name's on the trophy especially after getting to the final last season.

Judge, what's the general feeling amongst EK fans with how Stark has performed so far? Obviously it's still fairly early in the season but I'd guess it's been a bit disappointing given the results last year?

Last season was always going to be a hard act to follow. And so it has proved to be. Lost a couple of our most influential players which never helps. Havent replaced them with same quality in my opinion. Lost a wee bit of the buzz that was around the last few seasons. Still think we will be there or there abouts come end of season tho.

Edinburgh University 4-0 Burntisland Shipyard
Edusport Academy 3-0 St Cuthbert Wanderers
Gala Fairydean Rovers 1-3 East Stirlingshire (aet, 1-1)
Glasgow University 3-2 Hawick Royal Albert
Gretna 2008 2-3 Civil Service Strollers (aet, 1-1)
Heston Rovers 3-4 Peebles Rovers
Leith Athletic 3-1 Preston Athletic (aet, 1-1)
Lothian Thistle HV P-P Tynecastle
Newton Stewart 0-10 Kelty Hearts
Threave Rovers P-P Mid Annandale
Vale of Leithen P-P Upper Annandale
Whitehill Welfare P-P Creetown

Three ties fell foul of morning pitch inspections, while Vale v Uppers fell foul of the match referee.

Gala almost pulled off "shock of the day" but 'Shire equalised with 1min left and prevailed in extra-time. There were predictably comfortable wins for Edinburgh Uni, Edusport and Kelty... and predictably narrow tight contests at Gretna and Leith.

Hawick woes continue as they lost by the odd goal in 5 at amateurs Glasgow University. Credit to Peebles for prevailing away to currently high-flying Heston.

Unless either/both of Upper Annandale or Creetown can spring a surprise in their rearranged ties, the only SOSL club in the Last 16 will be the winners of Threave v Mid Annandale.

EK's exit means the cup will have a different winner for the 8th season running.

Amazed to discover that Gala conceding in 89 minutes and going on to lose after extra-time means they've still only once reached the Last 16 of this cup. Over 11 editions they have exited to: Annan (after beating Newton Stewart)... Edinburgh Uni... Whitehill... Spartans... LTHV... Craigroyston (after beating HW Uni)... Stirling Uni (after beating Selkirk and Easthouses)... HW Uni... HW Uni again... East Kilbride (after beating Heston)... and now East Stirlingshire (after walkover from Wigtown). Remarkable.
