Don't forget Shankland is a ***, folks.

Really? Get him signed.

Having Shankland scoring a late decider at Ibrox after getting on the arse end of a glorious shroo ball from whichever of Scotty Allan's legs has the Ibrox tattoo sounds like a very Hibs moment.

By all means continue to splurge money on dross from across Europe. Having watched Shankland for 2 years now, I can assure you that it would be your loss.

Oh we will, enjoy being relegated again back down to the seaside leagues.

Turning your face up at Lawrence Shankland, a guy who scored 61 goals in 50 games for Ayr and who would cost nothing, is laughable behaviour.

I wouldn't be against signing him fwiw. The thought that someone who's done well in the 2nd and 3rd tiers of Scottish football will have Hibs selling thousands of additional season tickets is the bit I had an issue with.

Shankland is a low risk/high reward signing. I don't see the issue.

I like Hibs and have absolutely no issue with you whatsoever, but okay then. Thanks for your well-wishes.

That's how it should be.

For most of the years where we finished second we likely had the biggest footballing budget outside of Celtic. We could have spent outwith our means like we did in the 90s but where would that have got us, realistically? Second. We may have pushed Celtic further back in 15-16 but losing our keeper and the form of Griffiths is what ultimately cost us. I'm glad we didn't go down the new Rangers route of throwing daft money at something you're not likely to win in the near future.

Exactly. If you had run up debt all you might have won is a cup and for that you could have slammed a few million on your debt.  They get a hard time from some fans but neither Petrie or  Milne would allow that and rightly so.

Clubs like ours run on a tenth of Celtic's budget. We can beat them in one off games but over a season, no chance. The lessons of watching financial lunacy run rampant at Hearts, Dundee and Rangers won't be lost on anyone.

Ha, you'd be surprised if you saw the ramblings of some of our mutants on twitter!

STF should 100% get a stand named after him. Petrie is only not absolutely despised anymore because he brought Dempster in. He was an absolute car crash for the majority of his time in charge of the football operations.

Absolutely he should. He saved the club. Petrie on the other hand can GTF, Good Riddance.

Credit where it’s due........it was Petrie who was instrumental in ensuring Hibs got decent dosh for Brown, Thomson, O’Connor, Fletcher etc. by standing up to the Arsecheeks and cüntish agents like Willie McKay. Say what you like about the Tache, but he ensured that the club were never going to end up a financial basket case like our Gorgie Chums.

(ETA - other financial basket cases are available.....)

Is there a Shankland klaxon on this site for Ayr fans or something? Anytime somebody slags him one of them comes flying in defending the him more than his gigantic foreheid does.

Much like Killie fans with Steve Clarke. May be an Ayrshire thing.

I am truly delighted with this take over.

Hibs were always capable of taking points off the ugly sisters, and with a cash injection, Hibs can and will stop all their pish about X amount in a row etc.

I hope you can hit the ground running this season to shut that lot up, but only after we pump you at the weekend 😜

It's all getting a bit tedious isn't it? Came on the thread to see what the takeover chat was and it's two pages of Laurence effing Shankland!

You've got that mixed up, hes got 50 goals in 61 games. He scored 6 goals in the final five months of the season.

Hes never scored in the top flight and is seemingly demanding a huge wage, plus a hefty signing on fee.

McNulty is streets ahead of him.

Plus, you never know if you're going to get the one who simply doesn't give a f**k, who turned up in his second spell with us and then subsequently with Morton.

PS: Hibs, congrats on all the monies. Decent club, good guys, hope you do something meaningful with it.
