It'll never be good enough though, therein lies the issue. Somewhere in the brain of the Hibee lies some weird belief that we're supposed to be 3/4th every season, despite 4 clubs all saying that and despite us never, ever being consistently 3rd/4th.

When we were third we wanted JR out, gave RG zero credit and we played 'eye bleeding' football apparently. Even in success Hibees are miserable kuntz and the whole of Scottish football knows this and takes the piss out of us for it.

No club ever makes third their own. Overspending Aberdeen have come closest. They don't build on it so why you thought we would is beyond me.

We're never even been consistently top six ffs.

You and me support, for our sins, a little lower table club that achieves a trophy once every 15 years or so. Expect that to be the norm and you won't go far wrong.

Is that lack of ambition? Who cares, because even when we get an ambitious owner, we can't show him the least bit of support. All we can do is rip him to shreds and be in a rush to do so.

If the internet was around at the time of the Famous Five, we'd be calling Willie Ormand a one paced has been.

Harsh, but fair.

TT, sorry mate but there is a fair amount in this that is - at best - arguable, and at worst plain wrong.

We were delighted that JR got us to 3rd place, despite the Hampden losses - but we didnt build on that in the summer window, and he was left with gaps in the unbalanced midfield, a CH and a CF short.

It wasnt entirely his fault that he got binned, especially if he asked for players and didnt get them - but the football he had us playing was utterly brutal toward the end, and I think his time at the DABs shows us he is no Guardiola.

Ron Gordon has done a fantastic job for the club commercially, we are bringing far more cash in than under the previous regime - he spent £1.7m on the new (stunning, imo) hospitality suites in the West, and has sold the hospitality rights for those for over £1m per season for the next 9 years, amazing business. The new screens and new LED boards also bring in significant income - that is brilliant and praiseworthy, he is clearly a businessman who knows how to make cash.

The first team football dept, however, is a total shambles right now, and that is due to the owner having no knowledge of how football (and particularly in Scotland) operates but not having the humility to acknowledge this and employ someone who does.

I dont think any Hibs fan has expectations that we are always 3rd or 4th every season - however we have the right to voice our displeasure about obvious stuff - gaps in the squad being unfilled for 3 fucking consecutive windows, Ron Gordon telling us the transfer system is working well, and us ultimately signing 13 players, most of whom are not of the quality to slot straight into the first team.

Oh, and we are into the last 24 hours of this transfer window and STILL need a striker, another in midfield, and cover at CH.

Its ludicrous that this hasnt been resolved in this window - and none of it is the fault of fans expectations.

Why should history determine our ambition? There’s no reason why can’t compete with Aberdeen and Hearts (two teams who look like they’ve done better business than us so far) when you consider the size of fan bases and our “ambitious” owner.

Interesting to see us called 'overspending' when our fans have complained for years that we've not spent enough.

A bit part of that being that you've finally got some more substantial fees for your outgoing players this summer, no?

The past three years. McKenna, Cosgrove, Ferguson and Ramsay all went for 7 figure sums.

True but Cosgrove/McKenna were during COVID so it's a bit more understandable why you didn't spend as much as you have this summer.

Only by one poster, and tbqhwy I disagree with him on much of his post.

We are in talks to sign James McCarthy on loan.  100% legit. Also JDH is going out on loan to St Johnstone apparently.

James McCarthy is a great fit for us based on the last year. May as well have a wheelchair ready for him when he arrives at the training ground.

Would be nice if we could sign a player that wasn’t either a child or a cripple.

Would be great to add a new member to the injury group at East Mains.
