"The ICT Thread - The Championship Years"

Is Nathan Shaw still under contract or not? A poster on CTO seems to think that they are out of contract but I could have sworn that he signed a 2 year deal last summer. Can't find anything to back this up however.

I’m almost certain that he was a 2 year deal and Boyd was a 1 year. Like you, I’ve been having a look and can’t find anything that confirms it

Transfermrkt have Shaw as being out of contract in May 2024.  I think they are usually pretty reliable.

Yeah that's where I had gone looking as well.

Annoyingly, the clubs article on his signing doesn't mention the contract length - https://ictfc.com/nathan-shaw-signs-for-ictfc/ - and none of the press articles around the time do either. I can't recall him being mentioned in the conversations of the players being out of contract so hopefully he is signed up for another year.

Hows your clubs finances now after the cup run, hope its helped to clear a bit of the shortfall, and you dont end up in the mess Partick are in

We made more from our cup run that the loss we made last financial year. But of course most of that cup run money will be used to pay off debt.  Would be nice if some of it was put into the player budget of course.

Hyde is fine for a squad player but when the injuries come in October and November, which they will, I don't think we can be relying on him to start in the centre of the park.

The club making an arse of themselves yet again. If what he’s saying is true then it’s a horrible way to treat someone. Not like we have previous for it.

We seem to continually do this, how hard is it to organise ourselves and show some respect to these guys?  Especially someone like Shane who has been dealing with a bad injury, which sounds like it might be career ending.

Ffs that’s awful. Surely the sporting director is the man to deal with that? Or the CEO? That is a severe lack of backbone

Obviously there are two sides to every story, but that sounds like really poor form from the club - a failure from start to finish.

- after Shane being out for a whole year, they still haven’t “got to the bottom of the issue”

- club seem to have chosen and then stuck with a physio who’s not up to scratch (not even speaking to Shane for 3/4 weeks, giving opinions without having met him or seen a scan(!))

- Shane/his family having to pay for his own specialist treatment and surgery  - club have had a duty of care to him for a year!

Not renewing his contract is harsh but obviously that’s a business decision which they’re entitled to make, but failure to look after him up until now is inexcusable. Sounds like he’d potentially have grounds for an employment tribunal claim.

We are a horrifically run football club. It’s no surprise to see those tweets from Sutherland.

I’ve no problem with the decision to not give him a new contract, if he is that badly injured, but at lease give him the news face to face and offer to keep helping him through his recovery.

Totally believe it about email also if it's not true the club will come out and deny it and Shane obviously has the email to confirm he's telling truth ...simple

Totally agree with this, I was glad we stuck by him and Walsh by offering them another deal last year. But the way he’s been told leaves a bad taste and I’m wondering if any players from the outside looking in would think twice about coming to sign for us…
