If your only plan is to pump the ball aimlessly to Burke, no matter where you are on the field, then there's no point in us showing up.

Looking at the coaching team what else would you expect?

Can't wait for the first to complain about how shite we are because we can't beat a team of a lower age group.

In fairness why wouldn't people complain? Two years is a fair gap at age grades...and our tactics seem only to be to hopefully lump it in the direction of Burke. It hardly bodes well for future Scotland teams when the likes of gemmil n mckay are the guys 'developing' the youth sides.

Some hit, game well and truly over.

While Englands actual U20 team have just beaten Italy to reach the World Cup final it's disappointing we couldn't do more here against their younger team, especially with Burke back from injury.

At senior level, we will never qualify for another major tournament, unless we host it.

This has been a glimpse into our future, and let's just say, the future is getting more and more bleak.

None of our players seem to know how to do the simple basics. There was no intelligence out there, no guile, no skill, no craft of any note. If people think that we've hit rock-bottom, they are wrong, as there is always more low.

The SFA don't care. As long as people buy their merchandise, pay for tickets and pay subscriptions to the supporters club then they are happy. They are more than happy to settle for medoricity. As long as the supporters are paying for them to be wined and dined and for them to travel around the globe, why should they want change?

The SFA has to go. All of them. All four leagues in Scotland have to be ripped up. We have to start again, and for that to happen the Scotland fans have to either boycott matches or stop buying merchandise, perhaps both. There has to be a structure set in place, and I'm talking about a real structure, not just lip-service, like this operation brave, or whatever it's called.

And on that, why have we got four leagues? During our "glory years", of the 60's, and when we actually produced players, we have a top league of 18 and a second tier of 20. The current set-up of three leagues of 10 and one league of 12 is absolutely pathetic. The self-interest of the top teams in Scotland is shocking, and sadly, I can't see things changing.

If rumours are to believed, David Moyes is being linked with the job.

Absolutely none of which addresses the issue of how Scottish teams play and why they are so far behind other nations in terms of technical ability, physique, facilities, numbers of coaches and other areas.

Agree with a lot you say but nothing will change. Clubs are all run as businesses with there own agendas so have no real interest in the national team. We had good teams in the 60s but it's not that we have got worse since then it's more all the other countries have caught up and overtaken us mainly because they have bigger populations.

A country our size will be lucky to get one or two per age group making it through to the first team, giving us a first 11 with a full range of ages. The golden generation thing is for bigger countries or a statistical freak. That's not to say we don't need to improve. The players currently under 17 are every bit as good technically as other countries, but physique is a problem for us.

Are they? Admittedly I have only seen them in the first half of the Hungary game. But on that limited viewing they were well behind the Hungarians on technical ability. Tactics were horrible as well.

From what i've seen, yes. They've got a better first touch than previous Scottish generations too, but whether they develop physique and a fighting spirit, as well as game intelligence, remains to be seen.
