The mad competitive West Super Division One thread 2017-2018

Never has the name of a thread been more apt. Even though we finished weeks ago we’re still hanging on hoping for results elsewhere to give us a leg up.
Right down to Cumbernauld in 8th, there’s still something to play for. Irvine Meadow who moved up to 4th today could finish as high as 3rd or as low as 7th depending on how remaining results go.
Goal difference and goals scored also have a part to play.
Don’t know how much more the old ticker can take!

Bizarre indeed, some might say unfair, like last season when they played their last league game 58 days after their second last one!

Or some might say it'll be in Largs' favour knowing what they need to do when all the other teams are finished.

If we reach the Ayrshire Cup final - fingers crossed! - and end up in a playoff, could be a brutal two weeks tae fit in those games.

It's a simple equation for us - if we win next week we will be guaranteed a top six finish as we would finish above Meadow and Cumbernauld.

A draw would be enough if Troon were to lose by two goals away to Larkhall (unlikely).

But it's good to have it in our own hands going into the last game, a home match and a full week to prepare for it.

Got to agree it is a crazy league and it will be an interesting week or two ahead.

Absolutely crazy that going into our last fixture next week, we could finish anywhere between 3rd and 7th.

No matter what happens, McGinty has had a great reaction from the players since coming in and considering our poor first third of the season, I’m just glad to still be in contention.

The last three weeks have been tough right enough!

However, think back to the start of the season would we trade our current "predicament" for where we thought we'd probably finish?

I think not!

We're still alive, c'mon the Frew!

Swings and roundabouts, yes it will be in their own hands however with players availability and potential injuries it may not only time will tell! I have a feeling that Renfrew may just be ok as the other teams may slip up!
