The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread

Recommended Posts

Inverness are going to be missing 3 players at least, 2 with cards, one with injury. They've just played 120 mins plus penalties and look out on their feet. They do have an extra day or two, with the scheduling, to recuperate, but that is offset as St Johnstone only have 90 minutes on Sunday and they do not need to bother their asses in the game, they can literally field a team that spends the full game all standing at the corner flag and their league position won't change.

It's clear St Johnstone are massive favourites for this, and of course this is the greatest St Johnstone side in their history, it would be nothing but pure unadulterated humiliation for them to even come close to losing the play-off, even over 2 legs and Inverness get some players back.

What is the situation with Jamieson. He was on loan at ICT yet I've not seen him listed as a sub. I know Robinson was bumping his gums about the inability to play loan players coming back, was he part of that or is he just injured.

If the loan finished on the last day of the league, it seems odd that it couldn't be expanded to any play-offs too.

He left ICT and went on loan to Clyde for the final months of the season. That fat seething mess Dodds wasn’t giving him game time.

Oh, right, didn't realise that. I know we have a connection to Clyde, but considering their position with Goodwillie I'd much prefer we chose a different lower league team to loan players too.

Even when the likes of Jamieson, Offord and Jack completed their loan deals, utterly stupid rules meant that they weren't eligible for our last three games. Wednesday and tomorrow would have been ideal to give them som first team experience.
The worst one though was Reid getting sent back midway through his loan spell from Queens Park and not being able to play at all.

The rule needs looking at, for sure. There isn't a truly meaningful game in the league this weekend. Ideal chance for every club to play some kids and generate a bit of interest. Plus, out squad is bare bones now.

It's just severely lacking in common sense.

It makes a bit of a mockery of the 'development' part of development loan.

I wonder what the reasoning is behind not letting these boys play.

Who decided that young Dylan Reid came back ? Was it Queens Park or our management team.?

He wasn’t getting a game, so no point in him being there.

Power to sign for Killie. Not sure I’m impressed but hey ho.

Was expecting him to be released by us, hasn’t been getting a game recently and has looked past it for a few months. Started today and played poorly.
Releasing 33 year old McGinn to try and sign to 34 year old Power?

I was the same when we signed him last year when he had seemed to go right off the boil for you.

He started this season really well to be fair and was a far better footballer than I had ever given him credit for. Has been pretty poor for the last couple of months though, a decent option if he’s a back up for you.

My money is on Gogic replacing Power no brainer.  Was nice to read nice warm words pre-match on media from Goodwin guy is a club legend.  Though it was the wrong move I believe time will tell. I have my excitement back for attending games as I think Robinson has what it takes to take us top six.  He knows what he wants 4 signed up already I'm sure there will be a few surprises along the way in and out.

Power was never any good for us. The myth that he 'started well for us' is just that. He bounded about giving away fouls, penalties and possession but looked busy in doing so and some folk liked that.

Not for me, Gogic is 10x the player.
