The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread

Absolutely brilliant news.

It is a match made in heaven (just now anyway [emoji23]).

Jim has shown he has the eye for a player and more importantly can sell the club to them.

He still has a lot to learn, especially on the tactical side when he can sometimes have more faith in the teams attacking abilities but he seems to have turned a corner on that.

We should be concentrating our sights above us, as usual though get safety confirmed first and see where that takes us.

I think one of the good things about Goodwin is that he has shown an ability to learn from his mistakes. Yes still pretty inexperienced, but we have improved under him and both the signings and the tactics have got better. He's dealt with a few really shit situations this season as well and got through them. I think this latest injury crisis might be a bridge too far and we will fall short of the top 6, but it will still have been a fairly successful season. Things seem to be going well off the park as well, and I'm already looking forward to next season.

Is there a particular reason Fitzpatrick felt it needed to be known that Goodwin has been issued with the biggest budget ever for a St Mirren manager and is now the highest ever paid manager in the clubs history?
The club often gets accused of lacking ambition (a lot of that from a percentage of our own fanbase). Maybe wanted everyone to know he has been well backed. Possibly also to get it right up Alan Stubbs who has been very vocal about how the finances never matched the clubs ambitions.

Tony is on course for serving up some humble pie this season, not that he would though. Too nice a guy.

“A new, contemporary, enhanced experience when we all get back to backing the Buddies safely from the stands.”

Can only be two explanations. One - they are filling in the corners, vastly expanding the concourse spaces and adding exciting new street food style catering choices and a barista standard coffee bar.... or, the bird shit will be cleaned off the seats and we’ve got hot running water back in the West Bank lavvies.

Either way. Easy the Mirren.

Safe standing....safe standing....safe standing....safe standing... 🙏

That'll be several hundred a week added by a greedy agent to any signings JG tries to make then ......
