Any mention of the Police investigation or were they signed off as clean.

No mention as there would be no need to include in the financial statements for FY20 given the issues in question that was referred to Police was during a historical audit going back several years and to do with a third party contractor. It was also only caught about 2 months ago, so if any reference needs to be made, it will be done during FY21's accounts. No real reason to refer to it though, I'd imagine.

Out of interest, would a big money move for (John) McGinn bring us in any cash?

Not that I think it'll happen in this window, but it might in the summer if he continues to play well and Villa drop down the table.

AFAIK since we developed him from age 12 to 23 we would be due 4.5% of a future transfer fee under FIFA (UEFA)'s  "Training Compensation" scheme.

(see Annexe 5)

Hibs would be due 0.5% over and above any sell on they've agreed with AV (since they had him from age 23).

Thanks, glad to know it is either a non issue or historical enough that it isn’t an ongoing issue.

According to Hibs fans, they negotiated around 15-20% percent cut of any profit Villa make on McGinn. An amazing deal given they sold him for £3m plus add ons and on current form he'll pull in, conservatively, 10 times that when he moves.

We would then get a third of whatever amount Villa are due to pay Hibs.

IIRC Villa were due to pay £1m to Hibs upon promotion from the Championship, so again, us turning £370k incoming fees in a year when we didn't actually sell anyone outwith a nominal fee for Paul McGinn to Hibs and a minimal sell on cut for Morgan going to Miami points to £330k being our 1/3rd cut of the McGinn promotion money to Hibs.

So by that logic and the fact Hibs are seemingly handing over the 33% of additional clauses quite willingly, yes, we'd be due a hefty cut if the transfer fee is as big as people speculate it will be.

There's also the question of development fees. Clubs who develop players are due a nominal cut of any future transfers. In St. Mirren's case, having McGinn from age 8-20, our share would be 3.5% of any future fee. Hibs having him from age 21-23 means they'd get 1.5% as they still significantly developed him through his formative years.

Not a huge amount normally but on the back of say, a £30m transfer, that too would be another massive amount for us.

McGinn is already by extension, our record sale at about £1.4m which eclipses the Million quid we got for Ian Ferguson. One big transfer from Villa to a top six English team would push the total money we get for him in the end, potentially towards the £4m mark.

Nearly right, Hibs had him 21-23 ;)

Not according to the Jambo’s on Twatter who insist we’re going bust 😆

Accounts published to May 31st today. A few decent takeaways from them.

We've turned a profit of £130k for the year despite being closed from March. 4th year in a row the club had been profitable.

Turnover was only down £50k vs the previous year. Again, this would have presumably been up if the season wasn't cut short.

Wage bill was trimmed by £400k vs the previous year. £4.1m from £4.5m. Probably cos we're only paying one manager now.

Club had £1.4m in bank at close of the year on May 31st.

Took in £370k in transfer fees, mainly between John McGinn's Villa promotion clause but also partly due to Lewis Morgan sell on and Paul McGinn

Kyle Magennis transfer fee wasn't included in the accounts for the year as it happened outwith the FY but was noted as a significant occurrence. £200k was the transfer fee received.

Not bad for a club that the Jambos had insisted were on the cusp of dying in the summer.

We're a shambles of a club at times in terms of statements and ham fistedness but the most important thing, the one that trumps everything else is that we remain financially prudent and very, very well run.

DJ, we may be reading this differently but the wage bill for this year was £2.65m down from £2.98m which is still a fairly sizeable reduction....our T/O is only £4.07m

You're correct.

I've read overall administrative expenses which has dropped £400k to £4.1m - due in large part to the £350k drop of wages.

Regarding the Annual accounts maybe the relatively stable financial position we appear to be in is a factor in us being able to sign Brophy and hopefully secure an extension to Doyle-Hayes contract.

Well done the BoD!

Just had Radio Scotland on, the sports report after the 5pm news said we're working to get Brophy here this month.

Him and Obika up front together is a delicious prospect.

Well done to the all involved.  Our recruitment seems to be miles better in recent times.

I'm not 100% in on the excitement on getting Brophy. His scoring record, as already stated, ain't that great.

I hope I'm proved wrong and coming to us will kickstarter his career again.

I also hope we dont entertain the whole wolf nickname. A predictor he's not, but if he bags a hat trick on his debut, I might let out just a wee howl.
