.. behind Erwin now.

I mean he's bound to get punished, but that's punishing the fans too!

I've still to see it, but unless it was intentionally malicious rather than just stupid then the bigger issue is not that he necessarily got sent off but the timing of it. Ultimately people calling for Dennis to be dumped have to ask themselves, "..and replaced by whom?" With the market we are in, it's unlikely we'd get an "upgrade" meanwhile Dennis is under contract and (presumably) settled. I do fear the "if not now, then when..." though, as he's threatened to be a decent finisher but opportunities have been thin (a mix between injuries and circumstance) and if he doesn't start chucking the ball into the net then I really don't see him extending his stay beyond the next 6 months. It's a real important season for him at the club and it's not started well.

I can only see a long season ahead. Doesn't seem to be many weak teams and I don't think we've replaced the creativity of Durmas well enough. I think teams know how to play against Jim's 3-5-2 which often becomes a back 5 as teams push up on it.

1 point from the opening 2 games and 4 goals conceded is a poor return.

We'll be in the relegation mix this season - we should have been in the top 6 last season but screwed it.

We narrowly lost to a team with massively more resources, our 1st defeat of the season. It was an even match bar 1st 20m. All this long hard season talk is a massive over reaction. The troll infested cesspit that is BWA even has utter roasters demanding Goodwin goes as he apparently "hasn't got a clue" and has signed duds. Reading the currants reaction to their defeats yesterday makes me think we are acting like them.

Perspective required. We are still in a transfer window where we know more movement both ways is certain. The 2 promoted teams first games is the absolute WORST time to get them before the reality and a few defeats kicks in, they historically always start well. Let's just calm down, we will be fine, no long hard battle ahead imo.

Hearts stopped Tanser getting crosses in yesterday which made our cross at all costs approach pretty inneffective.

Tait huffed and puffed as he always does but his final ball wasn’t good enough yesterday (or last week), I think we need to move Fraser to right back and get McCarthy back in the team. Kiltie (or McGrath) needs dropped and Ethan / Flynn brought into the side to shore up the midfield. Power has been excellent despite doing the job of 2 players in the first 2 games.

I really hope we can mix it up going forward, that was a bang average hearts side yesterday with a bang average manager and they were pretty comfortable against us for most of the afternoon.

Tony, shouldn’t you be fixing historical long standing infrastructure issues rather than posting on forums? 😜

2 games in, and a successful LC group stage, is not the time to predict a season long struggle.

Alan Stubbs as manager and a back four containing Heaton, Kpekawa and Coulsen with the likes of Cooke up front. That was the time to predict a struggle, not now.

I think if this this the formation we are going to play that it showed Kiltie to be a bit of a ghost in the game.

I felt that Power was over worked in the middle. He needed someone else in the middle with him to cut out play.

I felt that the wing backs didn't work as they would take a man on. It then meant that Brophy and Main were coming wide to be an option to pass or chip over to run on to it, to not have the likes of Kiltie running into the forward space in the middle. I'd play McGrath in that role and maybe look to play 2 midfielders to brake up play.

I would also at times change it up to have McGrath at times then be running the line if ball is coming up left to go be an option for Tanser to pass and have over lap going on. If it's up the right he comes out to support whoever we play at RWB to overlap with.

If this is the formation then if feels super narrow in support and attack higher up the park. We need players to be helping but not always pulling the strikers too wide with no midfield pushing forward to take their space and be an option.

How Power doing?

Better than I expected it has to be said, but then I wasn't particularly excited to see us bring him in. He certainly seems lively and active, and definitely strong in the tackle. My biggest worry is that at 33 he'll start to lose pace and have to compensate resulting in mistimed tackles and lots of cards. Ideally that will happen once he leaves us.

Just the way I saw the game albeit from home as said issues have meant no ballot tickets for me and you can see my reaction to that debacle so not a happy Clapper by any stretch. I just don't think there is too much needing tweaked. Top priority has to be a proper RWB. Tait and Fraser are good defenders but they are classic full backs. Last season saw Durmus utilised as RWB and I expect Goodwin to be looking for someone similar ie a pacey wide player who can track back. The McGrath and McCarthy situations are not helping. Either sell NOW and get the replacements in or if clubs are trying to nip them on the cheap tell them we won't deal with them. McGrath was excellent given the ongoing speculation and thought Power was good too. Hearts identified Tanser as the danger and kept him out the game forcing us down the right. Hard to judge Kiltie as he really couldn't get into the game much but when he did he showed flashes of what he is capable of.

Don’t think we’re anywhere near the point of worrying about it being a long season ahead 😆 that’s just silly after 2 games but ifs fair enough to say there’s some worrying aspects to our game just now.

We’re trying to play the game with wing backs when we have no one especially suitable for it on the right side of the park.  Tait is fine as a RB , wing back he doesn’t have the speed for. Young Henderson is ok going forward but defensively not great. Seen that with the 2nd Dundee goal last week where he filed to even attempt to stop the cross. Marcus Fraser would be better there than both with McCarthy slotting back into the back 3.

Think we also need to have 2 of power , erhahon and Flynn playing in front of the back 3 if we are going to persist with it with only one of kiltie or mcgrath playing I front of them.

Looked decent tbh.

One of the few to get pass marks. Getting stuck in, getting about the pitch ok. Being hung out to dry a bit with Kiltie and McGrath in the middle with him, we looked better with Erhahon in beside him.

Its Kiltie I am more concerned with.

I don’t think it’s too early to say your opinion is that a long hard season lies ahead. Equally, if you think it looks like we’ll be fine, fair enough, it’s your opinion. In two games against promoted clubs, already, old failings are on display, hence my own opinion. Took lead twice at Dundee, couldn’t hold it. Couldn’t score against ten men with twenty minutes to do it. Lost at home to a better organised team and while the effort was there, all huffing and puffing, long balls, hopeful crosses. Hearts, while not at their best, bossed the midfield and carved out clear chances from good build-up play. Haring strolled the game, absolutely strolled it in the middle. Hearts final ball on at least three occasions was the only thing that stopped them maybe scoring more. Where were our well-created chances or good moves? Obviously, no-one wants a ‘long hard season’, but if that’s what you think it looks like being, fair to say so. I just get the feeling that Jamie McGrath penalty kicks are still our best hope of winning games, and I find that concerning. Already.

2 games in bud, only one of them lost, it most definitely is too early.

Valid concerns? Sure, no issues with the analysis.

Let’s hope, looking back, I was completely wrong in thinking we’re in for a ‘long hard season’. I so much want to be wrong. 😀

If it's any consolation, I was so sure we were going to suffer "a death of a thousand cuts" last season. A mix of bad luck, bad timing and covid saw us rooted to the bottom and I saw no way out, yet ironically we went on to have one of the better seasons we've had for some time!

Fan predictions, eh?

Not content with stealing our shape, players, and signing targets, St Mirren now stealing our shite start to a season and subsequent meltdowns about relegation from fans.

St Mirren: Two games, one draw, one loss, the loss came to team with considerably more finances, resources and facilities.

Someone on the Internet: "St Mirren now stealing our shite start to a season..."

if you are going to feed, you'll need to do better than that Colin.

I don’t think we’ll be relegated, I just think we’re in for another season where a ‘Top 6 Tony’ prediction turns into a grind towards safety, but 7th or 8th, in the process, not playing a lot of good fitba’ and being amongst the lowest top flight scorers. Same old, same old, etc…
