Coventry Saint
Apologies in advance to Killie's relegation rivals who may be hoping we'll in any way show up on 12th May.

sergie's no1 fan
Crazy to think our season came down to 2 set pieces, both horrendously defended. Other side of the coin StJohnstone won the cup from set pieces (against Hibs and Livi)and scored a couple of vital late goals and kept clean sheets against Hibs and County. For having such a 'mean' defence we didn't half give away some cheap goals this season.

We'll turn up OK. We have a number of players playing for their careers right now. Remember in years gone by how teams we thought would lie down after the split because they had "nothing to play for" actually did the opposite? That'll be us. Anyone thinking they'll get 3 easy points off us is going to be sorely disappointed. Edited March 23, 2021 by oaksoft

TBH, it's good that we've been knocked out the league now so we can concentrate on the Cup. 45 minutes ago, sergie's no1 fan said: For having such a 'mean' defence we didn't half give away some cheap goals this season. Was it the start of this season we went through a spell of conceding really soft goals from low crosses, too? That got largely resolved and since then we've generally been quite hard to break down from open play, but as you say the set pieces have been a bit of a mare. 15 minutes ago, oaksoft said: We'll turn up OK. I do seem to be on the pretty extreme side of being optimistic over most things TBH.

By then some players will have played their last game for us , others will know they're not getting a new contract, and even some we wish to keep may have intimated that they're moving on , and the likes of Reid will be getting game time.

We will lose the Motherwell game. It's my birthday and last time we won on that date was before I was born! Appropriate opposition for May 16.

The prospect of Reid (or others) getting game time is likely to be the only thing piquing my interest, aside from the cup games. (I'm all talk: I have said this tonnes of times this season and still get all excited when the line-ups are announced.)

Ralstonite
Not sure whether or not it is an advantage that we have nothing much to play for. The players aren't under any pressure, but then again we're going to be up against teams fighting for their lives...

Traditionally that was worth a decent wedge in home gates, but without fans that's negated, also with the title race over that would be less of the case. You also feel that their will be more opportunity to give game time to the younger players. All in all, the only thing we've lost out on is a bit of cash, but you could argue our LC performance offset that - and we've got the SC to maybe generate some money from, too.
buddie06smfc
Hope Goodwin will do away with his ultra defensive tactics as soon as we take the lead in these final few games (should we take the lead). See what the players can do if they keep doing what works for us throughout the game.
ZingaliMan
Wonder why there has been no news to the new contracts offers a couple of weeks ago. Doyle-Hays i expect to return down south. According to press reports Jamie McGrath is attracting attention from down south. Marcus Fraser is another we are trying to tie down am I right in saying his contract is up at the end of the season. Would love him to stay but can see the likes of Hibs , Aberdeen coming in for him. At least we have a basis of 15 players signed up for next season. Suppose we need to realise we are a stepping stone to bigger things for players.
Coventry Saint
I think we have to be at the point where we need JDH to shit or get off the pot - if he doesn't want the offer then we need to start making other approaches. Wouldn't surprise me if he's already confirmed internally that he's not staying, tbh. I'd get Polworth in instead. Out of contract and I'd imagine Well won't be too fussed to see him leave.

If it is the case he has confirmed he's leaving, then as good as he is, he should be on the bench for the rest of the season. Give the players games who will be here best season. At least we can always rely on the jambos to keep our spirits up. Edited March 24, 2021 by monthelie'

They're completely different players though? Unless you want a change in set up it wouldn't be a good swap at all, IMO.
